Here we have our artillery scoring a direct hit on a Soviet tank and it's infantry escort.

Notice how the tank tracks are in front of the tank. Yes, tank tracks are generated as you play, and that the tank is sitting behind them? This tank advanced and didn't like what it saw. It was in the process of backing up when the 105mm artillery fire hit it directly.

The question mark above the tank means the Germans weren't sure what kind of tank it was. Now they don't need to worry.

Very nice attention to detail. As you add up the little details like this, you get a very impressive sum of the whole package.

Moving out from Prokhorovka the 5th Guards Tank Army take on the panzers of Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler attacking from Oktiabr'skii State Farm. 116 tanks in one massive battle.

I think what you are talking about is a friendly occupied building. Those are semi-transparent to allow you to see what is occupied.

The textures are all in place for this scenario.

No, no, I am talking about the pixelated appearance of the railroad station screenshot, e.g. Ground and trees look awfully pixelated, as if some kind of graphics card filter was turned off. Strangely enough, this is visible only on some screenshots, others look as smooth as one would expect.

I was surpised by the one photo with all the electric lines running through the yard. Then I realized the Russians must be using electric activated switches. Luckily I found a shot of one on a History Channel episode on Stalingrad.

What I think Thomm is meaning is that terrain has a sort of "salt and pepper" effect, that somehow disturbs the viewing especially for what concerns the background. IMHO a more "smooth" appearance of terrain (obtainable with a low-pass filter) would help.

Screen shots are saved in bmp format. To post on a Matrix forum they have to be reduced from the higher detail bmp to a lower detail jpg format. When you translate in PS you are asked for different levels of detail. I set mine to 10 the highest so it looks best. It probably is a larger file than when set at 7 which is the default setting.

I have found that screenshots, without a lot of work, do not represent any game very well.  Same issue with videos.  I use screenshots to just get a general perception of the game and usually use a demo for the actual view.  I don't know how much the graphics changed between PCWS and PCO, but looking at that may be a better judge.

On my primary machine running 1680 wide its what I posted. Maybe a little better as it isn't converted to jpg. I have a second older machine running XP with a CRT 1024 wide and it looks a little darker and with a little less detail.

In the shot that represent the railroad combat, there is a Pz IV(?) in dunkelgelb and a Stug in Panzergrau; it's possible to have (maybe with a mod) different textures for same model of german tanks pre and post february '43?

Definitely possible with mods and they can be swapped easily with JSGME. It is also possible to create new units with grau and gelb names so that scenarios can be made with specific units. We are not going to be able to do this for this release but a modder could after.
