I always roll my eyes when the "usual crowd" acts up whenever a Japanese player gets a result that isn't a strict replay headline from history. We then get the history lesson along with dark sermons on how AE is influenced by an evil pro-Japanese shadow society. (well they're right in JWE's case......he's certainly shadowy.....and i think he likes Sushi)

Sy'mon says, ooooh yes JWE love de sushi; and de sashimi, and even de kami. But not de Uni, sea urchin reproductive organs just don’t sound much like de food, even with de spleef to help along.

Got talked into trying the sea urchin after too many beers. I'll put that into the same category as turkey testicles as things I've tried while inebriated that I am unlikely to try again.

Maybe you should swallow less, so you it doesn't have to come out of your mouth again?

I have no problem with wild, once in a life time weirdness. When said weirdness occurs two games running, I've got to wonder. It never happened in the Dozen or so games I played against the AI , but in the two times I've played it in a PBEM, it's happened both times. I'm not complaining (much!) but didn't the odds just go from strange to astronomical?

All I way asking T was did he hack into my computer, or leave an easter egg in the scenario for me? And JWE , what did I do to you?

I'll break security this time to explain what I think happened. I had Betties coming in high and Emilies low. Both should have had escorts, but the escorts never showed. The Betties aborted and went home. Perhaps your F4F's were chasing the Betties at altitude and the Emilies snuck in underneath.

Steve did take Kiska that turn, though.

I didn't mean to sound whiney. I'm really too shocked to be upset. And it's not that it happened in our game. It's that it happened almost exactly the same way. I really need to look into these Emily's. They must be a vastly underated plane.

Ha! So sorry, Yankee dog! No Emily for you!

I was going to say that she could have been a visiting English tourist for all you know. Then I realized that would have been unlikely. She has very nice teeth.

One of my favorite Gamecock players and currently playing for the Broncos committed suicide today. I'm just stunned and devastated. He was the hardest worker, the nicest kid and someone you would otherwise point out as a complete role model.

I have no words. Weeping for his family and confused by such a drastic choice with all his potential.

Folks, make sure you love your friends and family. Tell them they are appreciated. I'm convicted of my own apathy and callousness to those around me right now. Who can know what people are suffering? But we can be a light and a friend to them.

God bless his family and graciously forgive him for this. I just don't know what to say right now.

You've certainly brought up an excellent point: we can best help those to whom we are near or interact with on a consistant basis by going beyond the standard greeting of "How are you? Fine? Good". When we assume others are doing well because they look okay, we fall into the trap of indifference.

amen to both these...

Newbie question to The Thread - Come in thread (me thinks only you can answer this). I am fairly new to this forum and have only posted 8 times on various subjects. During this time, however, I have seen my 'ranking' rise from Matrix Recruit to Matrix Hero. My question is this: since four of my posts have mentioned the pleasures and deep inner meaning of beer, if I were to mention beer in all my posts, would I become a member of the Legion of Merit?

Ok, what's going on here? Since my initial inquiry to 'The Thread' several days ago, I have done my level best to both display and promote the wonderous healing and spiritual qualities of beer. I have even made the personal sacrifice of ensuring that I never post here without a fresh cold one near at hand. However, for some mysterious reason, I have been demoted to a mere Matrix Recruit once again. Could it be that there is evil lurking behind the curtains of this thread, doubters of the God of Barley?

Oh really? I'm British so therefore cannot speak a foreign language? That is an unfair assumption, like me saying German sat navs only go to Poland

My German may be a bit rusty, but (a) I speak enough to make myself understood and (b) my German is just bad enough for girls (or ladies) to find it interesting It's been 10 years since I really used any German aside from asking for verious stuff at Frankfurt airport.

EDIT: Plus I get bonus points for making an effort to tell the fraulein "Sie haben schöne augen"

Title of the Moment: The Terrible Ones, written by Valerie Moolman. Published in May 1966. Our Hero ponders the question: How do beautiful women come to be know as "The Terrible Ones". Not that he did not have enough to do. The Chinese were not in Dominica to sun themselves or Operation Blast was not a nickname of drinking contest. Dictator Trujill's last joke had been to leave a hundred million dollars in gold and jewels buried somewhere on the island and it was hidden right under everyone's noses.
