Not wierd at all. They use very different types of tobacco curing processes.

Funny...I enjoy a cigarette every now and then-an inveterate mooch. I like the smell of a freshly lit one especially. After a few beers, it's even better. Cigars? I've gotta be in a special mood for them. Too much like a tire fire.

I know, but its hard to explain to others why you say your lung hurts when there's just a little cigarette somke in the air - while you smoke a cigar yourself...

You've never smoked good cigars...
I smoked some of the new Cohiba Behike the last days...

Not true. I've had some good Cuban cigars in the past. It's not a bad experience, just one that I prefer less frequently. We all have our preferences, even when exposed to the 'best' of different things, neh?

I prefer my pipe, though keep some good stogies in my humidor for appropriate occasions.

I passed another exercize-related milestone today. All the way home from work, I went through every single excuse for not going to my gym that my brain could cook up. Then I came home, picked up my bag and went.

That has to mean something good, no?

My father used to smoke a pipe. I like the smell of pipe tobacco quite a bit, but I've never tried it myself. Seems like something old people do.

Good on you for getting past the early procrastination / quitting milestone.

For myself, it means that I *like* what I'm doing and that it's enjoyable versus just being 'necessary'. The former is much more likely to be a long-lived program.

A couple weeks ago, we spent most of the evening on 'hand work'. Punch combinations on targets held (alternating) by classmates of ours. Nothing too complex: jab, reverse, uppercut in various combinations.

As the evening progressed, I could feel myself getting into it more and more. I was 'sticking' the jabs more and harder, crossing faster with more strength and the uppercuts became more fervent and punishing. My bag partner was good, so I really let him have it-not pulling any punches (literally). I was wringing wet when done, but felt oh so satisfied.

What a liberating experience! There's something deep, base, primitive and incredibly satisfying about just pounding the **** out of something every now and then.

The focus on the bag work was unanticipated-the fact that I was there permitted this experience. Showing up is half the battle.

Contrary to expectations I will not be spendin this weekend working nights in the cold.  Instead I'm off to bloody Cyprus for two weeks, apart from the days where I'm jet-setting to sandy mountain land

MY father started to smoke pipes when he was 18. I have one, too, but rarely use it. I think I smoked my first one at about 20 or so - but of course, its uncommon...

dinner at friends house for birthday...another friend related story of being with nieces (late 'teens, i believe) and them giggling about something while holding phone...my friend asks them what is so funny and they reply "this is hilarious...can't you hear it?" my buddy replies "no"...turns out the rage for youngsters these days is to play funny/shocking stuff on their phones in school or other places, but at a frequency that us old farts can't hear...we googled an app that plays different tones for different age groups, e.g. anyone under 70 should hear this, then anyone under 60 should hear this, etc...i think i made it to the 50's before i couldn't hear anything......getting old sucks, but i guess it beats the alternative
