Nay, but it is true that no *really good* beer does. There are acceptable beers such as Pilsner Urquell and Stella Artois that come in quantities. Heck, Fat Tire is pretty dern good and it comes in cases.

No, I'm afraid you've never had the canned horse piss that is mainstream American beer or your beer detector is broken. There is DEFINITELY bad beer. Indeed there is Awful Beer(TM) and Death In a Beercan(TM).

... but these have lost much of their meaning now that logboy seems to have left

I doubt if he has left of his own choosing. I prefer to hope he has finally landed the job of his dreams and is way too busy getting settled in.

Or is being fitted for a custom, double breasted straight jacket!

I gave in during a week moment and unblocked the most recent incarnation of our favorite forum troll to see what he could possibly have posted in the "thank you veterans" thread.

I am willing to bet $1,000,000 he has never spent a single day serving in the military of any country.

does sometimes visiting a fantasy world where he leads hordes of orcs from the saddle of a flying nazgul count?

Dang! I never thought of that! I had better consult with my lawyers.

I checked with mine.No , It doesn't count...

No bet. Your money is safe.

Hmmm. I think I'm starting to see why nobody likes him.

See, I think he may have served. For a while. Everyone knows the guy who started basic training and was seperated due to "incompatible with military service" then spends the rest of his life holding a grudge against those did complete boot, and against the military itself for not recognizing his brillance and abilities. Those are the people I find to be the most hostile against veterans and military service and services.

He doesn't seem to have a dislike, but a hatred.

**** 'em. I have the utmost respect for our veterans, dead or alive. That extends to those of our allies and even (to a certain extent) enemies. Right or wrong (and volunteer or conscript) they were (and are) there to defend what we had and what we would have long after they were gone.

You don't believe in Remberence Day/Veteran's Day/Local name? Then **** off and leave me to remember in peace you ungrateful **** and hope that you never lose what was paid for by the sacrifice of others.
You live in a foreign nation and don't agree with what we ended up doing to your country? Tough ****. Now **** off and leave me to remember in peace, like I will leave you to remember your dead in peace. And maybe, just maybe, think how much worse things would be now if 'they' weren't there then.

BAM!  Another new page.

Settle down, Emeril.

So, my wife likes to cook and watch cooking shows....

I watch them as well, once in a while. I especially like Alton Brown.

But if I went out and bought all the gadgets and gizmos he has, I would a) go broke and b) not have any room in the house.

Would you belive that we have his cook books, and Lou got "me" several of his shows on video for Christmas. And yes, I did a of his events that he did with Smithsonian.

Abstain. The projectile vomiting and gastrointestinal distress from the canned toxins are worse than a little social discomfort.

Abstain. The projectile vomiting and gastrointestinal distress from the canned toxins are worse than a little social discomfort.

well, i've been in some social situations that could easily induce projectile vomitting and gatro distress, so i guess at least getting the buzz would tip the scales

Considering I'm most used to stuff with over 10% alcohol, the amount of that garbage required to 'get the buzz up' would likely kill me.

Did we get the turn back, Steve?

Yes.

Nice!

I thought you said we had the turn back.

Yes, we got the turn. Then we sent it back. Are feeling a little slow today, Brother Red Mouse?

Yes, Steve. I'm perfectly aware that we sent the turn back. IM THE ONE THAT SENT IT! I obviously meant if we got it back since then.

see my subsequent comments on beer selection...and I've DEFINITELY consumed "canned horse piss that is mainstream American beer"...let me pose a hypothetical situation...you are at a social gathering which is painfully awkward, but you have no choice but to attend (perhaps wife unit is a factor here) and the only beer available is "canned horse piss that is mainstream American beer"...do you drink it or abstain from alocohol in this situation (i realize that i am unabashedly applying situational "ethics" here, but hey...it's a slow day here!)
