Just got back from watching the film "Unstoppable", after scoring free tickets for me and a buddy. Not a bad film, but it helps that the tickets were free...

Yes!  Finally finished Monaco on F1 2010   Started 20th on the grid but finished 2nd after a nice pile-up in the first corner cos of the rain

Meanwhile, Sebastian Vettel wins the F1 Championship...

He probably deserved it too on balance over the season so congrats to "baby Shumi". Poor Mark Webber just wilted under the pressure over the last few races. Suspect that's his best chance gone.....

Seems like I remember a seeing a movie made several decades ago that was also about a runaway train. Wonder if this is a remake ?

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure this movie is based on a real runaway train "incident" a few years ago, out in California.

Ay, he's had a good season. I have to say that other than Button (or Hamilton) I would've wanted Webber to win, but Vettel has done well.

Wonder if Red Bull are going to have the same success next year? It's good to see another team up at the top challenging Ferrari and Maclaren. I'd like to see Lotus do well next year, for old time's sake (even if they are Malaysian now)

Has anyone else played F1? Some of the tracks (Spain) are ******* hard! Monaco was a nightmare as well, a real car killer, I wrecked my car in practice and smashed it up during qualifying Those damned walls are hard and close to the track and my car is so flimsy I actually did better in the rain but still finished 8 seconds behind Button (and about that far ahead of Petrov).

I didn't know that Mike! You'll have to come out and visit us then. This place is train city (literally). Union Pacific's HQ , with 3 or 4 train museums nearby.

Oh, yeah, I am. I took a long weekend drive by myself from MN out to the Powder River Basin in Wyoming just to see all the huge coal mines and all the trains.

I've also stopped on a trip back from CA to MN and spent the night intentionally at North Platte, just to check out the UP's Bailey Yard, which is the world's largest railroad classification yard.

I've not seen the museums around Omaha yet, but will enjoy it when I do visit.

i understand that it was considered a design failure (on the A380), not so much because the engine failed but because when it did, it was not contained in the "armored box" of the engine, but punctured the wing when it blew out...

So, not so much that the engine failed but rather that it might have taken out a wing as well... iirc, wing failure on an aircraft is not good!

My brother learnt to fly; from what i recall, he never talk about wing failure being a problem
I seem to remenber that Tocaff in his AAR on old Witp forum gave a few rules about flying planes, and there was the same that my brother told me:

- nobody ever had accident colliding with the sky
- nobody is known to have win a contest against the floor when colliding with it

and the one that scared me the most (because i was at this time in the small plane that my brother borrowed):
- a good landing is just a controlled crash !!

(edited so that the ironical joke is more easy to see)

USS America would definately approve!

just out of curiosity (and being a bit ironical here, just to kindly taunt my american brothers), i would really like to compare the "too much caffine" you had, and the one i drink

OK guys, we already had a debate on coffee maybe a year ago on the Thread, but i still believe euro are drinking a stronger coffee than americans buddys
