I have just started getting into wargames. If anyone reading this has tried uncommon valor could they tell me a little bit about how it is (im just starting to get into SPWAW, but I like pacific thearter and complexity) any suggestions?

If you like the pacific war and complexity, then I think Uncommon Valour was made for you. (or you were made for it). I consider myself to still be on the learning curve and new things are occuring to me all the time that change the way I do things or approach situations. It's very detailed, but the detail all has a reason and impact on your tactics, it isn't there just to make the game look good.

In addition, we've had a series of patches that have addressed bugs, enhanced gameplay and improved historical accuracy on a regular basis. It was a good game to start with but the team behind it have demonstrated a real committment to making it even better. You can't really ask for much more.

I've played a lot of wargames, but currently only play three titles of which UV is one (for what it's worth).

Finally, if you like playing wargames, believe me when I tell you that you will really enjoy it the first time in PBEM you sink two of your opponents carriers without him so much as scratching yours.(Although when the reverse happens, it isn't quite as much fun).

P.S. To answer your question, yes it is worth the money.

Best bang for your wargaming buck I'd say.

I'd suggest going back and reading some after action reports (AARs). One that sticks in my mind is the one IChristie started posting right before the game was released.

I wasn't much interested in the game until I started following his AAR and after a few days I joined the group who were frothing at the mouth for an opportunity to preorder the game.

This is by far one of the best buys in the wargaming universe. If you are at all interested in the Pacific and don't mind some of the complexity (which I love!), then this is far and away the best.

It slowly but surely draws you in...Constant vigilance is required. It seems to me that just when I let my guard down...BAM!...goodbye carrier. I'm still in the learning curve expecially on the airpower supply. As a PacWar fanatic I am in heaven...Thanks to Matrix...Keep those Pacific Theate games comming and I'll keep buying them.

I was going to wait for WitP, but the AAR between Kid and Crocky pre-release was that which drew me in. Then I was hooked. Started playing it. Dreaming it. Talking it...

Then I couldn't put it off any longer. I had to accept an offer of work, and suffer the withdrawl symptoms...

So now I snatch a turn here and there when I can.
