Hi all,

Terrible... just like the old movie...

quote:

42 Die in China Tower Block Blaze

by Sun UK

AT least 42 people have died after a skyscraper fire in China left panicked residents trampling over each other in a bid to flee the inferno.

Bright orange flames enveloped scaffolding surrounding the tower and soon spread to the rest of the high rise.

Thick smoke could be seen from several miles away as the fire raged and gutted most of the building.

Survivor Li Xiuyun, 61, said she fled down the steps of the building with her husband, son and granddaughter from their home on the 16th floor until they met up with firefighters who took them to safety.

She said: "The smoke was very strong and the glass from the windows was scalding."

Speaking from hospital she told how she cut her feet on shattered glass when fleeing.

She added: "My son took off his socks and soaked them with water, and we used them to cover our noses. I stumbled on people on the floor when walking."

The building was an apartment block for teachers and reports said most of them had already retired.

Some occupants could be seen clinging to the metal scaffolding surrounding the building, trying to escape the flames while a helicopter lowered a rescuer down to the roof.

Firefighters eventually extinguished the blaze after four and a half hours and torch beams could be seen in the darkness afterwards as rescuers searched the building's upper levels.

Earlier the local hospital said it had taken in 55 fire victims, nine of whom were in a serious condition.

Shanghai television said 61 fire engines had been called in to fight the fire, along with three helicopters.

Residents were evacuated to a nearby stadium where rescue officials had set up a command centre.

Yes ... unfortunately ... a comparison of SAP and antichrist leaves the latter looking like a well-groomed schoolboy :-/

Ummmm.......KEM maybe you just need to confess your sins.

my only sin was not moving fast enough to not get caught up in the implementation vortex...the real sin is the amount of money the consulting company in india charges us to make SAP work for us...i think the monthly burn rate has to be close to some countries annual GNP!!!

edit - spelling

Anyone coming to the UK to see the Royal Wedding next year?  The cynical part of me (around 83% at last check) thinks I'll be at work when the rest of the nation gets a day off.  Or I'll get a bonus day's leave that I'm not entitled to because I'm a shift worker   There's another part of me (it might even be that same 83%) that just doesn't care that much about the wedding, but is pissed off that they'll be ruining at least a week's worth of TV with coverage of the big event.

I suppose it'll ruin a lot of American girls' dreams of marrying a prince and becoming royalty.  But don't despair ladies, there's still one more left.  He is ginger though...

THE GAME IS BROKEN !

I am very upset. The AI just sent several ships, who shot their shells, tripped their torpedoes, AND ACTUALLY SANK ONE OF MY BATTLESHIPS AND MANY TRANSPORTS. How could this happen ? Why do the developers let this sort of occurance occur ?

I am now upset and unhappy. I do not feel centered and empowered at this moment. My Karma got creamed.

I think Matrix is at fault for allowing surprises like this to ever happen in the game. Their job is to sell me a product that makes me feel good about myself.

I think they owe me a new game.

And my money back.

With interest.

And I want some tea and sympathy.

I'm with you on that one. We did get a day off when Charlie and Di got hitched. I didn't watch it. I can't even remember what I was doing instead.

What I find most noteworthy about your post is your failure to address the blatant chauvinism of him marrying another Brit.

BTW, is he the one that flew choppers in Afghanistan (or something) or was that the other one?

I think youre just a crappy player. Everyone knows you can conquer Tokyo in 2 game weeks. Actually, in 3 if youre Japanese.

I do too. I am pretty sure that she and her sister Patience are still working down the street at the Gold Club.

Dixie, that's the funniest thing I've heard in ages, mate! There's some lovely reasons to visit the UK, but that ain't in the pantheon decent reasons, sir.

There's something like 5,000 officially recognized princes from the house of Saud. Only a few of them are ginger.

Brother red mouse: wouldn't our translation have been more, "I got your sympathy, right here buddy!" (said whilest grabbing one's nether regions)? Different statement, same basic meaning?
