Group patrol altitude is 6000 , scrambling fighters to 6000. Raid is overhead the Tojo sweep against Haiphong was a good idea as it could have drawn more fighters away from Hanoi but when the first fighters arrived there we had our "full" Cap waiting for them... with some 160 fighters of different types set to 60% Cap we see a whopping number of 49 in the air which supports my theory of having roughly 50% of the set Cap percentage in the air... and this wonīt change until land based radar has been fixed... itīs been a long time already that weīve been playing with not working attack bombers and not working land based radar with no patch in sight yet... while none of the single issues are game breakers, we are very close by to have everything together being a game breaker for sure... a 6000ft sweep with none of the sides having the dive long enough to rule the engagement which meant the Oscars really had a bad day... Oscars without the dive vs P-47 means lots of dead Oscar pilots and some damaged P-47... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Morning Air attack on Hanoi , at 68,56 Weather in hex: Overcast Raid spotted at 11 NM, estimated altitude 41,500 feet. Time for all group planes to reach interception is 14 minutes not over yet, the main part of this unit is coming in (the lost "three" already visited us) and this time the P-47 took it on the chin, losing more fighters in this engagement than in all the others above Hanoi earlier this day... this sweep was the last strike to come in and thatīs where I think was the problem for the Japanese today, there were no bombers coming in... in the end, the loss list shows only a 2.5:1 A2A for us with the Hurricanes being just the usual dead meat and the P-47 not getting airborne due to no radar while just being overwhelmed by the enemy numbers... we can still live with the numbers of P-47 lost but the kill rate isnīt satisfying at all as the enemy can afford it, while we canīt with roughly two P-47 as daily replacement... now if the enemy would have used some 150 of his IJAAF medium bombers carrying laser guided bombs, the enemy could have destroyed some 80-100 P-47 in just one day... not really keen about it but I have to think about abandoning the base as it could be disastrous in just one bad day and it would take us two MONTHS to recover from one single bad day... without having radar Iīm just as screwed as the enemy was during my attacks on his major bases with hundreds of fighters (that mostly stayed grounded)... itīs a shame and is robbing a lot of the fun... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Afternoon Air attack on Vinh , at 65,59 Weather in hex: Light cloud Raid spotted at 26 NM, estimated altitude 8,000 feet.
