Battlewagons.

Arizona was lost at Pearl. California foundered off Lahaina trying to make.........wait for it..... California after her minor flood damage was repaired at Pearl.

Mississippi and Warspite passed honorably with their guns blazing.

If they sank, then you should see "ground" losses on the air losses screen for Zeros/Kates/Vals on the date they sank.

It wouldn't have anything to do with Do Not Upgrade and no SBD-1 in the pool????

Watch out they'll have you up for cruel and unusual punishment (flying obsolete A/C) next....

(Even a museum flight requires one exhibit. )

(Dont you repress me!!!)

Indeed, there are ZERO SBD-1's and only 2 SBD-3's. I am not going to waste SBD-3's on this lot. I think I must have disbanded them a while back..probably during the fight on New Scotland. It seemed a good idea at the time.

I will let them "gestate" for a while.

If you give themat least 1 aircraft, they will train effectively as far as I can tell; although the overall skill of the aircrews and ground crews at simulating engine noises will not increase as fast...

Yes about 35 Vals/Kates on the 26th and about 45 Vals/Kates/Zeroes on the 27th.

Well, since Harthacnut, his son, lost England, I think they were correct to offer the less than sanguine assessment.

You could say Cnut was a Great Cnut but Harthacnut was a lesser Cnut.

If you ask me, the whole family was a bunch of Cnuts.....well..that's what I heard.

Sign in today LAXAKE. This is not really a foreign language but an abbreviation used by gastroenterologists when a wimpy patient complaints about the bowel prep for colonoscopy.

We have now reached July, 1942.

No major action in the South Pacific today as the Jap transports and cripples are making their way back to Noumea and Koumac and Efate. The sub gauntlet has been quite efective (see below) although S-41 got her bell rung quite badly by some Jap escorts who didn't get the memo that the war is over. I keep watching for a third carrier deck to go under but it is not to be. The 3rd CV and Hosho are still unspotted.

SouPac Air HQ is up and running at Suva with Adm Halsey as air boss. SouPac HQ with Nimitz in charge is two days out of Pearl and headed to Fiji. The original plan was for Auckalnd but now that Fiji appears secure, they will go to the more forward base. The first B-24 squadron of the PTO will be in Fiji tomorrow. The first F4 recce aircraft in the Pacific are also at Fiji and are an order of magnitude more effective than the Cats. A photo sweep of Tanna revealed no aircraft at the level 4 field there. This was an opportunity for the B-17's, but anticipating a trap, I reconned 1 day more and there were nearly 60 fighters and 30 bombers there. This makes almost 120 operational fighters at Tanna and Noumea alone. I suspect some may be the Zeroes from the carriers. In any event, it does not appear consistent with a Wee Jap Dobber retirement from New Scotland. Bombers at Tanna extend the Nettie torpedo threat range to well East of Fiji. Consequently, Suva retains about 75 operational fighters (about 90% on CAP).

PS...Some Stuarts (the tanks, not the effete royals) attacked teh Naval Guard unit on the North coast of Fiji. As the Naval Guard unit appears to have no antitank weapons it is a bit unchivalrous....oh well....we are over it.

Upon the suggestion of Admiral Lord SPrior, Allied forces will attack the Wee Jap Dobbers today at Suva. They appear quite beat up but if it doesn't work I can blame it him.

The Two BB's at Suva are going to bombard the Japs at Nadi today. We shall see what a 14 inch AP round does to a Ronson Type II

With all that Browning ammo, I thought you were using the boat as a mobile flak trap to catch the LYB en route to attack your ships near Suva.

This is true. They are mobile Betty-killing machines, but most of the machine gun ammo is reserved for swimmers or Wee Jab Dobbers trying to get into a life boat.

Hilarious bit of marketing.

Stalker Girl brought home a set of oven mitts with the logo for a burn center emblazoned on them.

It is clever but I'm not sure I understnad the purpose. Is the user supposed to call the burn center after an accident?

You might want to check the quality of the mitts first.

I had that EXACT same thought about 2 mscs before I grabbed hold of a broiler tray with about 2 ouces of molten hamburger grease in it.

Fortunately, all is well.

I inadvertently gave myself a puncture wound in the hand on Friday. After 3 1/2 hours in the ER yesterday, a tetanus shot, a huger shot of antibiotics, 2 bottles of antibiotics from the drug store all is well, I think. The swelling has not gone down all the so I am not sure.

Drink an ice cold martini with your sore hand. The cold glass will make your swelling go down. And if it doesnt, the martini will lessen the pain.

Good advice but be sure to elevate the hand above the level of your heart (you may need an elbow straw for the martini but don't let anyone see you doing that).

If that doesnt work or there is spreading redness go back to the ER. Go in to see your doctor tomorrow for a wound check...and I don't mean the psychiatrist either.

Hand wounds tend to get infected.

I fixed Stalker Girl's Blu-ray player. Turns out it needed a "firmware update".

This, apparently, is industry jargon for "a bunch a **** we forgot to put in before we sold it to you". And I had to figure this out from a little tiny slip of paper in "The Pacific" box, "You may need a modification of your Blu-ray player to play this product"...which is apparently industry jargon for "We were so busy trying to make money we didn't have time rent a conference room at the Ramada Inn in Kansas City for 4 hrs and agree to some kind of industry standard on this crap (NOTE: HBO does not warrant the product will be retro or forward compatible with any existing or future technology. Normally, this would make us feel bad but it working out well because now we can sell you 8 versions of the same thing that has a 100 year copyright....and don't even THINK about copying it, ass hole, or one of our agents will jab you in your fat, sedentary ass, with a poison-tipped umbrella)

I didn't think the alcohol went with antibiotics. The swelling is down. I got punctured by vegetation in the yard. I was just trying to do yard work. I will be seeing my GP tomorrow if he has time.

Maybe they were treating Chlamydia

One time during my residency at a county hospital in LA (so called "knife and gun club" type of joint) I was working the night ER shift (every 3rd ******* night, by ra way) and they call me for this hand wound. So I drag myself out of bed at 3 o'clock in the morning, go downstairs and check out the hand wound. The hand wound, not surprisingly, has a patient attached to it. He is this huge 15 year old Samoan kid and his hand looks TERRIBLE. Turns out he got into a fight SIX DAYS before and punched another kid in the mouth so it a tooth vs hand wound. It looks REALLY BAD, like it will need surgical debridement (hacking out all the dead or infected tissue) so I wake up the Orthopedic Chief Resident. The poor bastard has every OTHER night call so I was very thankful when he agreed to drag himself out of bed at 3 ******* 30 in the morning.

He takes one look at the wound and asks, "This happened 6 days ago?

"Yes"

Then he very professionally asks, "May I ask why you chose to come in at 3 O'clock?"

"Oh, my mom thought we would get seen faster."

Actually, I realize we had no results posted from the 28th of June. A sub gauntlet was set up to catch a wounded WJD carrier trying to make Noumea. Several WJD intact DD's were attacked unsuccessfully. These may have been escorts but no carriers were spotted. Against the transports, the subs had better luck, sinking or damaging three AK's with WJD troops aboard. These may have been evacuees or or a second wave intended for Nadi or Suva. Most of the WJD transports moved NW, correctly anticipating the gauntlet.

The SBD's sunk a laden AK but the B-26's just roughed up a school of Bottlenose Dolphin and there is going to be Hell to pay. No Jap air attacks over Suva or Nadi today, it is too costly in Netties.

A big Jap attack at Nadi fails. They gave it a shot before things get worse, which they will. The WJD Naval Guard unit pinned down on the North Fiji coast attacked today but was repelled by the Stuarts (the tanks not the Jacobites) opposing them. All 3 WJD groups on Fiji are now isolated and are doomed with thousands of Marines and support troops pouring in at Suva.

No one expects the Jacobites !

I jabbed myself ( inadvertently ) with a sishkabob skewer ( ok, some alcohol was involved ) and ended up with a bad-as-hell infection. It took a long time to heal properly. And far longer for my friends to quit making fun of me.
