Mrs. McDull fell off her bicycle on Sunday and dislocated her shoulder. Her description of the popping noise when the doctor shoved it back into place will stay with me for some time...

The one that made me cringe was reading about some bloke who dislocated his hip. When they popped it back in one of his testicles got caught up

Physician (to patient): Well, a bit of good news then. We've managed to relocate or 'reduce' your hip into the acetabulum. Ought not to be too much of a worry for you any more.

Patient (in excruciating pain): [sweating, writhing in agony] Doc-why do I have this radiating pain in my lower abdomen then?

Physician: [takes a couple of puffs on pipe]. Oh that. Right. Well, you see, through some rather unfortunate timing, we've managed to inadvertently get one of your 'lads' caught in the thick of things, so to speak. Not to worry. It should pop out the next time you disarticulate your femur again, old boy.

How's that happen? What were they doing up in there to start with?

I don't know. I don't want to know.

His-how shall we say in the Holiday spirit-"Santa's sack" must have been draped over his thigh near where they were working. It takes an enormous amount of force at just the right angle to 'reduce' a human femur into the acetabulum too. Things probably got caught up in events, as it were. Ho! Ho! HO! that must have smarted.

"Smarted" is a grossly insufficient descriptor of what that must have felt like. I'm thinking more along the lines of the death of Edward II category of pain......

No no no. The appropriate medical parlance for this sort of thing is, "you may feel just a bit of discomfort here". Man, do I hate that phrase.

Probably a good idea. I gave up acid decades ago... at our ages we need all the remaining synapses our brains have!

Heavy rain here for the last 2x days, and the lake is getting really high. I suspect that a Mouse farted in North America 3x months ago, and started the butterfly effect.

According to that theory, if the said red mouse farted on a regular basis, you would be under about 10 feet of water right now.

One of the few feelings worse than waiting for a turn with an empty inbox is feeling guilty when there is a turn waiting and waiting and waiting in your inbox for you to do it.
