latest New Vegas facepalm moment tithe

4th go thru, hardcore, wanted to try no fast travel...gah...

just cleared out vault 34 after leaving super stupid's Ed-E and Boone outside the final room so they wouldn't get my arse charred...finish quest (sardonic, to say the least) and head back to Novac to fill my hotel room with all the goodies...erm...wait...where's the dynamic duo? f**k!!! forgot to ask them to join back with me before leaving...screw the no fast travel...large map, vault 34, fast travel, "c'mon boys", large map, Novac, fast travel...<sigh!>...

Dammit! Youre making me wanna buy it! Its not in my budget! Aaaaaagh!

i'm having as much fun (if not more) with it as i had with Fallout 3...the story line is just as engaging...worth the budget buster, IMHO...

Aaaagh! Youre killing me!

Kwik, please tell us more. More more more. Suddenly, I'm fascinated by all manner of the game.

Go lose a CV.

did i mention that you get to have TWO companions at a time in this version? AND, you get a special PERK from each of the 8 available companions in the game?

Actually I never played with companions in FO3. They just get in the way.

but they say the coolest things! my current favorite, trying to give Boone one more pound of stuff than he can carry, "It's gonna be awefully hard to cover your a** while I'm carrying all this crap!"...or a facsimile thereof...
plus, you have companion quests that you can complete for more exp...and if completed, the companion becomes more powerful...but i agree...i've shot Ed-E from behind many times...bless his little robotic ticker...

An update: Looks like the floods are receding Queensland but now there is flash flooding in Victoria. Fortunately not on the same scale and dispersing quickly but still doing some damage on the way through.

The highways up north are opening and and the supplies are flowing into affected areas but now that the media circus has moved on, the hard work on the cleanup begins.....

On the personal side, it turns out that my niece was in an isolated suburb but was in a building back a bit from the river so at least she doesn't have to deal with a ground floor/basement filled with stinking mud. Knowing her, I am sure she will be out today with one of the volunteer cleanup crews swarming into affected areas. My brother had given up his riverside apartment 2 weeks ago for reasons I won't go into here (which was a bit of a lucky escape) and is staying with friends in a suburb a distance from the river. However, I think he will now find it extremely difficult (and expensive) to find another place to live. Access to the MiL's place is now open and she's more or less back to normal.

One good thing about this whole crisis was that the communications infrastructure remained intact and you could get in touch with people. I couldn't imaging what it would have been like if this wasn't the case.

Please keep in mind there are still a number of people missing up in the Lockyer valley as the search continues...

I got Cross in FO3 once just cause she looked so cool. She made a dog's breakfast of 2 completely routine encounters back-to-back by running getting my line of fire with her Thread-damned sledge and not being able to hit sh!t with ranged weapons that I reloaded from before I got her and did without.

As much as I love Dogmeat, that mutt is nothing but a headache. I usually turn him into a lapdog by leaving him at home with the robot. I would live it if I could mod him with a poodle cut and a pink bow.

Earlier in the autumn, I showed you a picture of our summer place (with that "hockey creek" running alongside).

This is how it looks in winter

Beats me why the Russians would ever want to go to war with you guys. All of your stuff looks just like all of their stuff. You guys should have gotten together and attacked Hawaii or something.

Just kidding, of course. Its a beautiful place.

And the car is a Volvo, of course?

You have a point that we and the Russians should've gone together and aimed for something warmer. Nowadays we only use the hint of russian menace to cover up our real plans, which is to reinstate the union with Norway and get our slippery fingers on all that oil.

Nope, it's my dads car - a Skoda. I drive Swedish however, but a Saab instead.

I drive a SAAB 9-5 myself.

Morning men. Off for the day to play "Fear God and Dread Naught". I'll probably get some tin can destroyer that will sink after firing a futile torpedo salvo. Or even worse, before.

Sheesh... give the poor thing a ranged weapon and she will use it... i've rarely had problems with the companions, except once in a while the supermutant will get into it with folks... i make sure i save the game before letting him see people i need to talk to...

Reg, glad to hear that all of your family is safe! Your statement above is so true. The next several months are when they could use all of the media attention to encourage people to contribute their time and resources to the cleanup effort. Sadly, that doesn't boost ratings, so.....

Hot coffee, fireplace burning, getting text messages from Atlanta where there is currently a 1-1 tie early in the first game of the tournament, and I have my Thread Brothers.

I have everything except a turn (Space Chickens ).

Oh she does, she does. But she cant hit the broad side of a vault. I always play as a small arms character. The point is to kill them before they get into range of you, not waste 5 rounds and then go melee anyway.

But maybe youre right. I'll have to give it another shot one of these days.
