We really don't want to mud sling over here against any company or their products and policies.

I felt the need to defend eniced73 though with this post from their forums

Good to see other people have noticed this. Hopefully more people can post here without being jumped on.

The fact that it can be easily modded is also very attractive. The vehicles (for instance the Pz IV and the Marder-series) and the infantry don't look great, I hope that will be solved by modders soon.

I am working to improve the Pzkpfw IV serie, I'll release it as a mod after the release of Ostfront, probably.

Good to hear, JMass, the Pz IV series do need some extra attention. Could you show some of your progress perhaps?

P.s. every forum has it's own thugs, including the BF forum. But there are (mainly) great, dedicated people there, who know a lot. And BF has made and still makes some of the best wargames in the world. There is room enough for both games. Let's stop comparing games, forums or whatever.

Then you should have posted the link to the entire thread. Two guys (and their two posts) out of a thread of 5 pages of people discussing the game and you quote this? You quote it in order to imply that the BF forums are not as nice as over here. That is an iaccurate picture. That is mudslinging in my book. That is bullshit. Everyone else in the thread ignore these guys (and their two posts arguing with one another) and go on to discuss the issue, without name calling. One post even tells these guys to grow up. You don't need to bring this up anymore. eniced73 can defend himself and he showed himself to be an stand-up guy with his last post. I can't say the same for you.

For everybody elses reference, here is the thread in question. The Thread

I'm done with this.

--edit, oh now I DID read it. Big deal

Someone baiting MikeyD--only the biggest CMSF fanboy ever--I love his mods, though.

Wow, this is so f*ckng stupid about people loving/hating one game or the other.

If you can't afford both, the you don't need to be playing games in the first place! Wouldn't it be great if both PC and CM succeeded? Maybe the average idiot on the street might get a decent game on his PS3 or X360?

+1

We *want* CM to do well as it increase the size of the community. Which is good for both of us.

The customer wants both PCO *and* CM to do well as it increases competition.

Look at it this way, it will take a bit for PC to go western and probably a bit for CM to go eastern, so if you have a hankering for either you are covered.

If only one existed then you would be out of luck.

Not to mention that they are quite different playing game systems.

S.

Get real, why are you trolling?? As linked by RedCharlie65, your 'selective' quotes have nothing to do with eniced73 and the thread he participated in, which can be found here: Thickness and penetration data

Please chill out, everyone. What Stridor said represents the thinking of the Panzer Command team, as I've also said many times on many threads. There is room for both games. Compare and contrast constructively is fine, but there's no need for the rest.

Regards,

- Erik

Here's a screenshot taken during a test, I need to work a bit on the model but the main work is on the new skins, both winter and summer, at the moment I suspended it to improve some Pz IIIs.

JMass, that bow looks already much better. Good job! Will you also give the texture some more structure? It looks rather smooth.

I would like to see some of the old CMBB scenarios reproduced in PCO just to see if they are comparable.

Well, there you go. That'll give you a project to see if some of your favorite CM scenarios will transfer.

Good Hunting.

Shock Force was "buggy" when first released, but over time BF has done a great job with it.
IMHO - With the weapon systems of today, the SF modern game map sizes are way to small. War involves killing and breaking the other sides "toys" first, but with SF it's a "killing field". Plus the theater involved is very boring.
I think they should have went to Europe or some other place where NATO and Soviet armies could slug it out with a more balanced weapon systems. M1's vs a Toyota truck may be real life, but M1's vs T-90's, Mi24's, Su-27's and A-10's would have ROCKED!!! China or Korea would have been good too. But overall, it's a way better game today then D +1 release day.

SF is only leaving my computer for a WWII game, not because it's a bad game. I bought it in hopes of a WWII version and years later - it's coming

I am a WWII junkie. I have TOW2 and a few other Russian based games.

To be honest, I never know Panzer Command existed. It could be me, but it seems like the PR and main stream sim outlets didn't really push it. Again, it could just be me. I found Ostfront on Youtube one night and here I am I was looking for a replacement for CMBB and I think I found it. The game engine and rules may be different, by it's Eastern Front and I am love it!

Choice is a GREAT thing. Blondes Brunettes & Redheads are a great example

I was poking around my old computer looking for some CM files and found a JackoBO4AK with some maps in it. You must have used the Map Convertor to do some maps for me back in those days.

Maybe I can repay you with PCO someday.

Well, if my memory serves me correctly it was the other way around. You were so kind to convert a number of maps for me from CMBO into CMAK. Hence the name of your file probably.

There is a direct comparison of the two games published in this journal:

http://www.lulu.com/product/paperback/tactical-wargamers-journal-issue-1/6538005

It was also discussed in a thread on this forum IIRC.

It would depend on your definition of "comparable". The games "complement" each other rather than compete, in my opinion, just as the "new" game engine for CM will not be competition for Panzer Command in the least. As pointed out, if you are a fan of the genre, you will probably be interested in multiple approaches to it. CMX2 is going to be very different from CMX1, which is different again from PzC - all of which complement each other.

I agree, but I've never thought the forums here at Matrix were particularly biased either to be honest. Just slow sometimes to ban disruptive posters.

The game looks really cool, Lewis.
