Central Zone 1

Here we are hitting heavy resistance but slowly advancing. Need my rail to catch up. Supplies are hampering me.

Central Zone 2

Here I am firmly across the Dneper. Also waiting for rail to catch up. Soon I will need to un-tangle the mixed units. That is going to hurt soon. Almost out of the swamps.

Southern Zone 1 Turn 11

Here we have reached Kiev in force. Still closing up with infantry after clearing most of the pocket. Armor on the Dnepr. Very weak pockets formed, 1 good one.

Southern Zone 2 Turn 11

Here we have busted his line completely. I took a risk and shot a grenadier div and cleared a large swath. Hope it does not turn into a rescue mission. Trying to decide if I should shift all my armor way south and then sweep around or try and bust thru south of Kiev and split north and south along the river. God I hate attacking across large rivers.

Any suggestions?

Turn 13.

My rail is starting to catch up now. The last 2 turns have seen 16,000 tons of ammo each turn reaching my units. And I have launched only limited attacks. So finally I might get some where.

North. I am steadily advancing along the north Coast. Blasting anything in my way. 7 Div in 2 Corp are up there. Around Pskov, I am holding my line. Armor has shifted to the southern end of Northern Zone and is slowly getting ready to build a nice little pocket.

Here I have finally opened a very nice hole in his lines. Now to hold it and make him decide to hold his ground or to pull back. If he holds his ground, I will pocket alot of units. Either he is keeping alot of troops way back, or he has stacked his front. Everything I hit in his back field is very weak units.

Smolensk is slowly being squeezed from north and south. 4th Army is holding along the river. Need more supply. I really messed up here with my rail by cutting up to Minsk. Should have went straight thru.

I am all over Kiev area. Now to force a crossing of the Dnepr and get behind him. Need to start concentrating my forces for the push across the river.

South Zone 2

Here I am steadily pushing him back and pocketing his units. Odessa fell on the first attack. He only had a security regiment there. I would have placed 3 strong Div and made it a pain in the butt to take. I just need my rails to make some more progress here. Starting to feel some pinch.

South of Cherkassy looks ripe for a bust out and over the Dnepr.

That was what I was thinking. I forgot to post the Zone 2 pic and deleted it. Dumb me.

I know he is weak on the south side. I am seeing single units south of Kiev all along the river. I should be able to bust thru along there and sweep north. Next turn I am going to start shifting my armor further south from Kiev. I dont know if I will cross that turn or next. Depends on what I can get across.

Turn 14

Major success across the board.

First, we have the north. I have pocketed 6 Div. My thrust from AGC has caused him to pull back across the board to plug the huge hole I made. That forced him to leave his level 2-4 forts and hopefully have to start all over again.

Here Gomel has fallen, and again he has had to pull back his front line. Allowing me to cross the river. ALMOST out of these danged swamps.

Southern Zone 1 Turn 14

And here I have stuck my neck out by breaking out across the Dnepr and beginning my sweep north and south of the river. I air lifted huge fuel stocks to my crossing forces because I expect to be isolated next turn. I have 4 Panzer and 4 Motorized Div ready to cross next turn in support. Not shown is the newly arrived Panzer Corp stacked up behind the other forces ready to push across.

Southern Zone 2 Turn 14

Mud hit across this front so hardly no movement occured. My troops have a small rest this turn. 18,000 tons ammo delivered this turn. Rail getting much better now.

Turn 15

Only 1 screen shot today.

Southern Zone 1.

River advance a success!!!!! Many armor and Mech units across the Dnepr. 20 Russian Div's are isolated. Kiev cut off. Granted it is a weak pocket. I was just able to force the far north unit back to isolate. But I should be able to complete the pocket alot more securely next turn. Then it is pull back to winter positions and hunker down, complete rail repair. And get ready.

That's wide enough he's not going to break it...not if you've done your recon right and he really has no reserves there.

Recon has been spotty. But I will say, my best recon is a high movement unit and then I can see the dark brown splotches and the light tan ones.

Recon is your friend. I do it diligently. You have to know where his backup is to plan your panzer strikes appropriately.

I know, getting ready to leap my air bases closer to Kiev now that my rails are almost there. Hate to do it, but that might be where I dig in at.

Turn 17 and the Kiev pocket has been destroyed. Now to start falling back and digging in for the winter. No choice really. Here comes the mud. Plus I need to repair rails, shorten lines as much as possible.

Mud is upon us. Turn 18.

Pulling back to form defensive lines for the winter. Will grab screen shots for everyone to try and advise best locations for winter defense next turn. I hate to surrender Smolensk and Luki (city north of there, but I might have to so I can shorten my lines.

I noticed on that screenshot that you have mobile units in several different HQs, including OKH apparently. There is one way down near Cherkassy, that is from 2 PzGp, not 1st. You have alot more supply problems if you don't pay attention to keeping units supplied throuh Corps, and in touch with Army commands.

My understanding is that Corps can do OK if they are "detached", but you don't want to "detach" divisions from Corps unless they are in the rear.

I know, the OKH units are assigned to a Corps HQ. The 2nd Pz div was my breaching div when I crossed the Dnper and just never go back to it's HQ. But now it is time to clean up the lines.

Okay, turn 19 (mud)

I am pulling back to prepare winter defenses. I have an idea where I am going to defend but am looking for idea's. So if you have some, please speak up.

North

Here you can see the basis of my line. Once snow gets here, I will shift my armor units around to Cities. Right now they are digging. Also I will be cleaning up my Corp HQ's and getting thing cleaned in general across the entire front.

I hate to give up Luki or Smolensk, but don't think I can defend this line. I am thinking about pulling back to the red line. Idea's?

Same thing, snow I will clean everything up.

Same thing, but thinking of pulling back along the Dnepr (marked Red line) but to hold Gomel and Cherosky.

As above, snow will be clean up.
