Both planes are American, and so are the markings. The picture was taken in 1929.

The one at the back is a Vought Corsair (well it IS), and the one at the front is a Consolidated XPY-1, which several years down the line would evolve into the PBY.

Pffft, we've got enough problems making sure that the damn things stay airworthy without the extra problems that aircrew throw at us. I'd rather you flying types stayed well away from things you don't understand. Just because you know how something works, does not mean you know why it works. And you'd be surprised at how many of your lies we can actually see right through It didn't "just" break on it's own, it's normally because you're arsing about with it, we know.

Y'know I'd actually like to work on the new Airbus FSTA, just to see what it's like to work on an airframe that's younger than I am, almost every aircraft I've ever touched has been in the RAF longer than I've been alive Although I'd still go tomorrow if they let me work the BBMF.

Time for todays's racist joke

A businessman from Edinburgh decides that he's getting too stressed by life in the big city and wants to get away from the rat-race.  He sells his house in the city and moves to a remote cabin in the Highlands, the nearest village is almost 15 miles away and there isn't another house within view.  At first he really enjoys the peace, but after a few weeks he's starting to get lonely.  Eventually, one week there's a knock at the door.  When he answers there's a giant hairy figure in a kilt who introduces himself as his neighbour in the next valley over.
"I see you're new to the area, and I thought you might like to come to a party I'll be hosting tomorrow night" says the kilted figure.
"That's great" replies the new arrival, "I've been here for a while and I've not really met anyone yet."
"I do feel it's only fair to warn you though, there's some heavy drinking goes on at these parties."
"No problem, I've experienced some pretty crazy nights out in Edinburgh"
"There's also likely to be some fighting as the night goes on, you know how it is with drink."
"That's not a problem either, I used to box so I can handle myself."
The kilted scotsman goes to leave, but turns round.
"There's one more thing, these parties tend to get pretty sexy you know, there's a good chance of some action if you know what I mean"
"That's great, it's been a while if I'm honest.  So what time should I get there?"
"Any time you like laddie, after all it'll just be the two of us."

( Thats the type of joke where you could substitute almost any group )

No, it's only true in Scotland.

Weird coincidence... UGA VIII, the Georgia Bulldog mascot died today...

Damn, I didn't know. An odd bit of synchronicity.

That is the collateral damage... like I said, it has all the finesse of a 1000 plane BC night raid. But it will get the job done.

My trick to have the japanese into sending out massive waves on ACs againt my carriers in Downfall and beeing shot down by CAP and escorts from Ivo have stopped working. They didnt send any planes last time i did it.

I am in the process of securing Okinawa and sending engineers from PH and the west coast to places were they can build fine bases. At the moment Guam, Trinitan, Ivo and the rest of the islands in that group is BADLY overstacked with bombers. Its gone so far that i have moved all nonessential ACs to bases were they are out of th way like Leyte, after all, its only parking there and no flying.

HEY, what do you know. We actually have clear sky were i live ATM

How do you think we feel? We spend our days working on something made by the lowest bidder with tools made by the lowest bidder and designed by someone who seems to hate techies and designed the layout on a Friday afternoon. And then along come the aircrew, we want 40 tons of fuel. Now we want 43 tons. Now we want 42 tons. And now it's broken because we were trying to pretend we're Tom Cruise in a multi-engined airliner.

Still, at least the pilots are doing something sort of useful, but navigators and air engineers And don't get me started on those back seat wallahs who just prod buttons all day.

I also take offense at your implied description of me as a maintainer. I am a technician.
