Originally posted by David Lehmann Hello, I already posted this topic in the tech forum but I will more likely get a response in this one ... We encounter serious problems when using the pbem mode of the game (version 7.1). The fact is that the retreat/reinforcment hexes are very often, almost always, on the bad side i.e. the troops retreat towards the ennemy ... which you will probably agree with me is not an easy way ton win a war. The maps are self made maps, they are totally fine in the editor, in solitaire play and by simulating an opponent on the same computer. When attempting to play by e-mail, once the files have been sent, the flags are on the wrong side in 90% of the cases. Can someone explain that and above all is someone able to resolve this issue ? Heeeeeelp ! David
Learned that the hard way...so I can feel your pain :D The problem is: If you set up a PBEM game in the Battle menue, the retreat hexes will be set by the computer according to a hardcoded set up given for that time and nations involved, not matter where they are placed on your premade map. Example: US against Germany in '44 will be always US at the left and Germany to the right, even if the nations in the Battle menue are set to GER - US. If you want to change the sides for the retreat hexes, you can just do that, by going into the editor, load your map and hit the button with the blue and green arrow. This toggles either the "historical setup" like US-GER in '44 or makes it the opposite like GER-US in '44. So if you have a designed map and want to have Germany on the left side in '44, you have to make sure your map is in the "non-historical" mode (you can identify that by the nation, that is in the editor menue to the left - default is Germany - if the text popping up on the button says "germany is on the left side", it's the "historical" setting). If you should have downloaded the H2H package at theDirty Dozen you'll have 12 prepared maps for PBEM in there. The names of these maps alos give the date and nations involved, because of the reason the retreat hexes could get mixed up otherwise...they're also playable with 7.1. hope that helps...just play around with it a bit and you'll get used to it...
