Political Report

Several good upgrades were added last month. France and GB are spreading money all over the place.

Upgrades

The Ottoman Empire now has over 30 military "upgrades" and approximately 6 naval upgrades. Of course, a large amount of "experience" has been used in upgrading individual units and ships. The artillery III alone cost around 215 experience points. The costs for the various upgrades vary from nation to nation. It seems that the important ones cost the O.E. more than those cost the European powers-so what, the Empire just had to work a little harder.

The result of these great expenditures is the finest army in Europe-I announce it as now... invincible.

Prussia AO

The finale campaign has begun in Prussia. The 1st, 2nd and Egyptian armies will advance towards Berlin. There will be no stopping them.

Prussian Treaties

The Prussia King is once again turning to diplomacy to attempt to soften his defeat-or at least to make things more difficult on a particular adversary.

Sieges

Prussia has again taken significant losses due to a siege.

Not shown on this section of the report is the siege of Grodno. 2 Austrian divisions are likely lost after a 2 month siege by Russia.

Trade

Most of the wool and cotton exports are going to Great Britain while all of the textile exports are going to France. There is a tidy profit-one that is very much needed, in these trades.

It looks like Turk pirates are raiding our own trades. Those pirates will be sent on shore leave.

Hi Graymane-glad you are enjoying the aar.

Alliances clearly mean different things to different monarchs-it is a tool to be used in a way that might benefit your empire-that is the practical application. Of course, some personnel attachment to an ally or treaty is understandable. In this game I knew I had one treaty that was simply for show-the alliance with Spain. That treaty only gave Spain some cover while it went on an empire building race that took it to the top for some years. I knew it would be broken at a time of convenience-so I did it.

Glory Standings

The position of the Empire continues to improve. With the looming great battles against Prussia, the glory lead should further improve.

The new port was not for trade purposes, but just to get some additional naval experience points. I still have no intention of becoming a real naval power, but just to bring in the Ottoman fleet to around 3rd place in power.

Culture

The O.E. still holds first place in culture. It is entirely possible this could drop to 2nd place if Russia retakes all its lands that are currently under Ottoman occupation.

The First Army is still my best force. It has never been stronger or more ready for battle.

Here it is-on the eve of a great battle. It is at full strength-about 182,000.

Ottoman diplomats are hard at work assuring an easy victory against Prussia. Although victory in the upcoming battles seem assured, everything must still be done to further guarantee victory.

Ottoman glory will soon rapidly climb to even greater heights.

Monistir has low production in everything-it is habitually low in population. Its labor is best used in constant production of provincial improvements.

Hi Maestro,

Being in your position. I would probably be a little reckless and just try and crush those around me. But that is why your in such a great position. That is, you have measured your moves precisely. Do you see yourself taking action on any easy prey. Just for the sport of it.

Hi Zap

Reckless? Me?
As you can tell, this current war with Prussia will not be a great burden on my great empire (it's actually over at the time of this writing-with a cool treaty :)). I have been pondering the future. There are two divergent courses of action to choose from. The first is simply to take a defensive stance until the end of the game-this would assure victory. The second choice is to aim for a total defeat of Russia and turning the Black Sea into an Ottoman lake-better for my yachting pleasure. The big problem with this second choice is that I will need to declare war on Georgia. This is a country that Great Britain has been pumping money into for a very long time. It has a huge treasury currently (actually just took a screen shot of that in the current turn-over 8000). It is the clear intention of King Kingmaker to form a protectorate over Georgia. I can easily squash his efforts there. If I am to take Sevastopol in a treaty I must have Georgia. If I take this action it will certainly have some negative consequences in my relationship with Kingmaker. However, I can't help but to consider some evil intentions that may be behind Kingmaker's current course of action-evil directed at the peace loving Ottoman Empire.

I have more time to decide which course to take. It is still possible that regardless of my actions there will be a great piling on in the last couple years of the game. I can count on France in a general war-6 to two would make an interesting war.

Culture Standings

This may be the peak cultural level of the O.E. for some time. Russia has taken a few provinces back. The O.E. has approx 15 arts centers under improvement, but it will take many more to maintain the current level.

Prussian AO

The 2nd Army moved into Nuemark, directly east of Berlin. I was attacked by the combined might of the Prussian Army-the Prussians were crushed. However, the 2nd Army did suffer some significant losses, so it was ordered to stand fast in Nuemark while the 1st Army delivered the finale blow. The 1st move up from the south, at a speed march. The forced march adds to "initiative" and also gave my forces the first crack at the Prussians rather than letting the Austrians get in there first.

There was a slight chance of being repulsed in Brandenburg, but the Prussian attack on the 2nd Army left it in a weakened condition-victory was assured.

Ottoman glory took a good jump forward. Too bad I had a clerical error which resulted in a cancelled treaty. Good thing the O.E. has glory to spare.

Economy

even with all the depots and full strength army, there is a small surplus. Funds from France and trades have enable expansion of the economy to improve.

The training and draft pool totals are near the real "combined pool" that that particular line-a little glitch in the system.

Glory Standings

Prussian glory will soon tumble even lower. There will be no coming back from this triple loss. It can wreck some vengeance on its erstwhile and former ally, Russia. I have made a little stipulation in the peace treaty to help that along, but it is still up top the Prussian king how far he takes it.

O.E. glory is now 700 points ahead of G.B.

Glory Changes

This was another big month in glory advancement. Acepting surrender gives a good boost. Once again, this was a war that I did not want, but Prussia had to be dealt with to enable a Russian campaign. Prussia is in a strategically tough location. King Apretzo should have cancelled his alliance with Russia to avoid the automatic DoW which occurred at the end of the forced peace. Perhaps he did not know it would happen-I didn't.
