Is this rant series aimed at me for having the audacity to butt in to some sort of hollowed sacred ground of elitists? If so just why don't you just come out and say bugger off (I do understand English) and I will butt out and take my comments elsewhere.

Buck

Um...Buck? Can you give us a little bit more information about what you mean? I haven't seen any rants lately that were not originated from or directed at Japan and Ike.

If you're referring to THE THREAD!!! as "some sort of hollowed sacred ground", that's far from the case. Everyone who does not take themselves too seriously are very welcome here. This is our retreat to get away from "serious." Pull up a chair, grab a cold one out of the cooler, and we'll toss another burger on the Memorial Day cookout grill for 'ya.

I quite possibly misinterpreted the series of rtrapasso's one line posts above, if so I'm sorry.

Thank you for your invite.

Buck

Ack!

There is a "sport" around here we Threadsters periodically engage in called "fabering", named after fabertong, the first one to accomplish it... this involves a sort of "free flowing consciousness" of posting one or two lines at a time, and endeavoring to have an entire page filled up with one's posts.

It is the duty of every OTHER Threadster to prevent the person attempting a faber from completing it... thus, if a Threadster should happen to notice there is no one else around, he (or she, although i don't happen to think there are any female Threadsters) will attempt to make a lot of posts without interruption.

Yes, this will pad one's post count, although (at least in some cases) this is not the point... it is just being able to accomplish the faber (as i mentioned, sort of a sport).

BTW, this is a lot more difficult than it would first appear... making one word posts to try to accomplish a faber is considered "poor form".

Not exactly Buck but close. There is a small number who enjoy leaving one line insults to other forum members. Including to those they don´t even know like you have recently experienced. You are just the latest person to be made unwelcome here by these people in an ever growing list.

They are excusing themselves to you now because It happened to me recently and I didn´t like it too much. They´re a little unsure of themselves at present. So yes, your initial impression is correct.

Accept their insincere excuses and submit to their strange hierarchy in a submissive position and you too can leave insulting one line insults to other forum members too. You will be comforted in knowing you have the protection of ¨THE GROUP¨ in ¨THE THREAD¨.

I was curious USS America so I search ¨Japan¨ His last login was almost two years ago. I thought he must have really said something to make you angry. I briefly searched through his post and found nothing. His last post was,

quote:

ORIGINAL Japan: In 1999 I was part of the KFOR force who entered Yugoslavia, in 2003 I spent 6 months of my life working for UNICEF with Civilian Aid, I also visited Grozny 2 week's in 2004, and in 2006 I spent 4 months of my life again doing a similar thing. I did plan to join a UNICEF mission to Eritrea during 2009, but have canceled it, I might do it during 2010 we will see, I don't know.

I Apology for the "negative" debate I might have caused here on your forum, and I see my involvement in it as my own weakness, and for that I am sorry. I will try to refrain from replaying to this type of posts in the future.

I will accept what he says is true. Seems like an outstanding person. I´m really confused with what he did that offended you so much to be speaking against him almost 2 years later? The United Nations Children's Fund was not ¨macho¨ enough organization to meet your standards?

He may be in some African civil war country right now risking his life between guerilla and government soldiers helping to feed a village. Who is to know? Now I know that´s not as tough as having a picture of an aircraft carrier with warplanes posting on a forum 20 times a day but you can think to excuse him a little. Maybe?

I don't know on what side of the bed you got up in this morning, but apparentely it was the wrong one. As this is among the friendliest places I've managed to stumble across on the Internet, I have no clue what the hell you're talking about. Congratulations, you've also managed to offend me as a person, which takes some doing. Say hello to my second green button in six years on this forum.

Yes, T, unfortunately he knows exactly what he's talking about. Except he talking out of his pre-teen brookie.

But Ike99 is a pre-teen and isn't quite cognizent about what older people might be talking about. He's not bright enough to 'get it', so perhaps allowarces should be made. But when they get even more stupid and egotistical than the already are, and threaten prople with their "I'm an Air-Commando" nonesense, here's my address.

[ed] Shoot. No. Allowances shouldn't be made. Ike is a piece of brown and should be wiped up like you do to your doggie. I'll do everything I can to remove this piece of feces from these forums, now and forever. Ike, be ware. Be very ware.

Easy there champ, perhaps if you read on a little further you'd see that there was a misunderstanding between Buck and a few others. It seems to have been sorted out as quickly as it began.

Regardless, some of the posts that you've had directed towards you were needless as were some of yours. I can't, and won't, tell you where you should and should not post things, but you're giving the appearance of looking for trouble by posting such comments as your recent ones in an open thread.

You seem to be implying that you're a higher grade of person than the regular posters in here? If you believe that, then perhaps it'd be better for you to prove it and stop the bickering and prodding eh?

I'm not unsure of myself, for the record. I've had public disagreements with a few people, they're too much trouble and everyone comes away looking worse.

Astonishing, isn't it?

i once dropped about 1/3 of a jar of tomato sauce (with the top on)... the jar hit the ground, and the tomato sauce "bounced" up and blew the top of the jar (without the jar breaking), covering me and much of the kitchen with the tomato sauce... it was sort of like putting a small explosive charge in the bottle.... i tried to clean it up and partially succeeded, (wife didn't see it for some time), but a few days later my wife noted sauce on the INSIDE of the freezer door, where the sauce had somehow inserted itself (no, the freezer wasn't open)... months later, we were still finding traces of the sauce, including specks of the stuff on the ceiling (9 feet up...)

Ahh - happy days . Trouble is, it gets little better with time. Recently we have had to eat off trays in the lounge while we have some work done to the dining room. My 11-year old manages to get her food on the carpet, the couch, in fact seemingly anywhere but her gob

The problem with a Vassal module of a game is that you can't buy them alone. You have to have the documentation for the board game to play the electronic version. If/when I get it, I won't be playing the board game.

Peas, dude. Soft processed peas. Them as come out like stuff from a SAW. Been hit with that before. Ouch.

It's the yellow/orange things that hurt the most. Nobody knows what they are, but they always end up all over your face. Squash, maybe? Damn, I should know, 'cause Corkey would spew that stuff on me endlessly, and then bang her spoons together - more, Daddy, fun, Daddy. Woof.

Japan's last post as Japan was two years ago. He masqurades as other people. Your "style" of posting is similar to his. Ergo, it was assumed that you were him. Not unreasonable , in view of his very many alter egos that he has adopted since his expulsion.

No one objects to you or Buck or anyone else posting here. Or ever had. All that the "Threadsters" request and require is that "you play nice". That's it, that's all, and that the way it's always been.

When someone who comes in and acts agressively, confrontationally, or in general not in a manner considered to be normal, the frequent posters on this thread, like residents of any well ordered neighborhood, arrise , band together and defensively challenge the "intruder" (for lack of a better word). What's so hard to understand about human psychology at it's absolute most basic roots?

Agression ALWAYS begets agression. So if someone "barks" at you, it's always a good idea to look back at what you've said, and see if YOU were the one who gave offense. If not, it never hurts to act on the principal that it MIGHT have been you, (however misintended). A humble person is generally welcome anywhere. In real life . Or Cyberspace.

One more bit of advice.....when giving an apology , give it and stop. Don't say anything else. Walk away. Too many people say "I'm sorry", then proceed to destroy any benefit by adding something like ,"however if you hadn't......". Like I said before , a humble man is welcome anywhere.

So why not try again? Forget all previously said and done, and make a fresh start, turn the other cheek and go forth.

... I have heard we have Pike in a lake just 30 mi east of us...never tried it...but I HIGHLY doubt there are.

When I were a lad (way back in the 1990s unlike most of the old timers here) there was a story that there was a pike living in the local lake. Whilst there were pike there, the creature from the story was supposedly a monster creature that lived in the wreck of a Hurricane that had crashed there during the war. It had also eaten a dog. Several people were either related to someone who allegedly caught the monster, knew someone who had or knew the person who had their dog (Springer/Retriever/Labrador) eaten by it.
I know my Dad used to catch various fish in the lake, as well as frequent .303 rounds left over from t' war when the area was used for munition storage for RAF Skellingthorpe for a time.

Love it.
