Hi all,

Typically, VASSAL and other online tools keep track of the map and all the counters.  You still need to have any documentation like rules, scenario info, etc.

I know and understand... but having nice map laid down with all those counters on it is just a thing of beauty... don't you all think?

I tried with Silent War, but the IJN sprung their new ASW dog paw on the unsuspecting USN If the Steel Wolves game is anything like SIlent War then it's going to have a big map. Plus keeping all those counters organised in the correct cups is a pain. And the require remixing every few months, plus you'd be very, very annoyed if you accidentally put the counters back in the wrong cup

So having a Vassal module that does the sorting for you is a godsend

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Cats are bastards

I wouldn't even dream of setting up a boardgame with Small Child MkI fully operational. Especially as he found my wallet this morning and emptied it. At least that's what Mrs Dixie told me.

Damn, Steel Wolves is labour-intensive, even on Vassal. I shudder to think how long it would take if I had to lay out the map and punch all the counters first...

You don't?

Vassal module, remember?

I do remember but I thought that Vassal was just a helper and that you need to have all stuff (maps and counters) just as originally intended / designed...

You have to have the game, yes, but the map and all the counters and markers are represented on screen, and you move them around there. Same with dice rolling.

Kristian, can you post some screenshoots (or perhaps these are available at official Vassal for Steel Wolves site)?

Michael, are forest fires burning in Florida as well (I thought only Arizona and neighboring states are affected)?

Sad...

BTW, there are just 4 Eurofighters in the Falklands... if Argentinians would like to try something now the UK is unable to do anything about it (i.e. no more RN fleet like it was in the 1982)...

Just what can Argentina actually do though? The UK might only have 4 Eurofighters out there but they're a damn sight better than anything else in that region. Plus the Falklands garrison is larger and better equipped and prepared than in 1982.

The Argentine navy and air force are not in any great shape really.

Argentina has elections coming up in October and I guess Kirchner is trying to divert attention away from the dire economic straits the place is in. Plus the US signed up to the OAS demand that the UK open negotiations which has only encouraged them. . I don't think Obama likes us very much either...
