In other news, I'm getting well acquainted with Steel Wolves. Like Brother Dixie said, once you get to know the rules, they make good sense, and the turns flow well (I'm about half-way through the fifth weekly turn, first week of October 1939).

In the first four weeks, 33 enemy ships totalling 162,000 tons have been sunk for the loss of one U-Boat. The biggest prize was the British carrier HMS Courageous, sunk by Otto Kretschmer in the North Sea.

So the game forces those stupid offensive ASW patrols on the Allies? I can't think of another reason her her to be there.

A radar no less, deployed in Norway. Of course.

It's where I'd deploy my new secret ground-breaking deadly weapon/radar. Because hiding it in Germany surrounded by the elite of the German army is too obvious. I'm impressed that they managed to make a deadly radar technology (sinister music).

Perhaps it also fires death rays?

Perhaps it's just as well the Bismark can't be sunk. Or at least doesn't appear (I assume).

Really? Falklands Islands with some Obama-bashing on top? That's what we're doing? Bored, much?

Not bashing, just saying he signed up to an OAS demand that the UK start negotiations over the Falklands aligning the USA with Cuba and Venezuala. The UN right to self determination must have slipped his mind.

He also declared “We don’t have a stronger friend and stronger ally than Nicolas Sarkozy, and the French people.” Good luck with that.

Oh Christ...he said that?

Personally, I thought returning the Churchhill bust so soon after being in office was an unnecessary affront.

Oh yeah. That one was quite a while back, actually.

No need - unless the game is doubly broken, Captain Crutchley VC just ain't gonna let that happen.

Three things:

1) I can't spell giving

2) I never suggested either of you did. I was pointing out that T's earlier comment was out of place. Boredom and/or Obama bashing has nothing to do with the strength of feeling over the Falklands.

3) The act of betrayal would come courtesy of our spineless buffons in Westminster, "persuaded" by a US administration keen to get South America on side.

Edit: I can't spell spineless either

Sounds promising. I'll have a few questions when you've had a bit more time to get used to it.

All this talk of the Falklands reminds me of the story of the three commandos who had been wounded in action in the 1982 war but for some reason their decorations had been overlooked - so to make up for it Her Majesty's Government offered a lump sum payment...

I've found out what the comment was - and yes it was a very serious insult, although it was not directed at Bean's latest squeeze.

Apparently the guy said to Bean "Ere, I know you, you're Danny Dyer"

What happened to the Stuka's undercarriage? Why is Danny Dyer still making films?
Warspite1

Good call re Danny Dyer and who is the girlie commandette third from the left?

Wondered who the moistened bint was myself. And why she's carrying the Halberd. And why, if it's a firearm, she has the poor arms discipline to be 'sweeping' the right column's heads with the muzzle of her weapon too.

I wonder too much, methinks...
Warspite1

Moreover, why has she got her right trouser leg rolled down - from the top? And where's her make-up? The woman needs to sort herself out

You git ()-she's got her trouser leg down, bunching up about her high boot top. There appears to be dried blood or rust streaked in rivulets down her trousers, however. What a mess. I can't believe that unkempt uniform conforms to British cleanliness standards. Ten demerits!

No KEM, it is definitely a girl - her name is Private Bob Parkhurst - a.k.a Kate (which is short for Bob).
