It might be the biggest thing they want from you, Steve...

You are confusing what you want with what they want.

Seriously , despite all the millions of years we've been on the planet , we are still wired like the cavemen were. (Men want beautiful babes to satisfy their every sexual whim. Women want someone to keeps them safe and comfortable. "Fresh kill" is represented by chochlate. Security today means not just physical safety , but emotional safety with the occassional backrub.) Nemo's the expert. Ask him. But keep in mind that men and women ARE wired differently. When you train a dog, or a horse , or any other living critter , you try to see it from how they think. Women are critters too! (As are we). So just keep it simple and basic. Think like a caveman. What's a cave woman want? THERE's your answer.

at what...backrubs?

Sounds like a claim of ownership to me. However in her defense , women are insecure creatures. Bringing a nude of her out of the closet, no matter how tastefully done, is bound to set her fear factor racing. You might want to bounce the circumstances off a female who's opinion you trust , and get her reaction. I think you'll find that most women are sympathetic to your ex. As a rider you know how to deal with a shy and insecure mare (think high strung Arabian). You won't go too far off the mark if you deal with women the same way. The biggest thing they want from you is security. Be gentle.

Think High Strung Quarter Horse! Do not piss her off!!

Now you get it! A mare that's comfortable with you will let you ride all day long. A mare that's not might kick you into next week! Sound familar? Always keep inside your mares "comfort zone" and you shouldn't have too much trouble (except for outside influences like rattlesnakes).

You guys will probably laugh at it, but it is a work machine after all.

HP 6000 Pro, 3 GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB SDRAM, 500GB WD hard drive, 2 16x DVDs, Bluetooth/802.11G

Typical number cruncher kinda machine.

Morning tithe... Another little shake (4.9) in the Christchurch area last night, and my Son is now posted back in NZ. He is based at the a Military Camp just south of Christchurch, so I hope he didn't get too shaken-up at 3AM in the morning.

No, not laughing John, sounds like just the Machine to run AE and it's utilities.

I have only got a Vaio E Series (Intel Core i3-370M, 2.40GHz, 320GB/4GB) laptop, with a 22inch widescreen external display, and it works a treat with AE also.

Sounds like a sweet machine, Des. Was talking to the tech-weenies and according to them, cpu speed ain't jack, it's the RAM. 4GB is just the ticket. Wish I had that on my laptop. I'm stuck with 1GB. Oh well.

Sorry to hear about the new shaker. I know how those are. Hope everyone's safe and well. All we gotta do now is request the weather gods to move that damn storm next to Cancun over to Texas. Now them folks are hurting.

No......laughing is an old "friend" of mine who has a disturbing compulsion to always have to "one up" you whether it's in the pity dept or computers. He was telling me the other day about having been given a $12,000 4 x CPU Xenon Server that had storm damage that he was going to repair and use as a gaming machine.

Ok......whatever works for ya.

Yours will work for basic mathin.......most of the putors here at work are still Core2 duo's though some of the luckier braniacs are getting i5 laptops with SSD drives.......ooooooooooo Now they have SERIOUS power in which to listen to Pandora internet radio while crunching spreadsheets.

That was my first Kindle purchase.........interestingly, while one can easily nab Volume 1.....getting Volume 2 is trickier. You'd think it'd be the other way around since Vol 2 is the lesser of the two. In addition to being saddled with a clear US bias, 3/4 of the book is pure mundaneness as the Uboat menance is passed and it's just down to the "going out with a blaze of glory" stage.....and the late Mr. Blair was determined to document....in detail EVERY single doomed patrol from mid 43 to the end of the war. I failed twice to get through the 2nd volume before giving up. My eyes were crossing.

And it IS love Martian dude......so convenient.....was sitting with an ex-Submariner last night who's part of our "Pint Club" and he asked if i'd read "The Silent War" yet. (about Cold War sub ops) Looked it up on Kindle.....saw a cheap 13$ price.....bang. bought it. "I am reading it now"

On a side note....nice to have a conversation with someone who bursts the post ColdWar bubble about Soviet equipment and training being all CRAP. He said the USN SS had a lotta respect for the Soviets.....it was quite the "game" out at sea. Told him he needed to talk to Sid....our alleged ASW expert.

I'd recommend he speak with Steve. Steve has a wealth of knowledge on this subject as well-ain't no alleged about it.

I have drawn a complete blank on volume 2 in ebook format. Any tips?

None at present. First thing i did after eBooking Volume 1 was look for Vol 2 but it is not Kindle avail or Nook/Android/Ipad/Sony as far as i could search. Only results so far that come up are used copies and being rare....the asking price for some is steep. Ironic. Blair's books were supposed to be the definitive revisionist account of the Uboat war.....laden with more Stats than John can shake a stick at and quantify.

But I havn't seen a new copy of his books in the bookstores in years. I think Mr. Blair is spinning in his grave. Regardless of what one thinks of his conclusions and alleged bias's......he put in a BOATLOAD of work into those two Volumes......his Magnum Opus of his literary career. Ah what fools we Mortals be seeking our own slices of immortality.

Sorry...pre-Holiday blues.
