Hi all,

quote:

ORIGINAL: USS America

Ladies and gentlemen, I am very sad to pass along the news that our Thread Brother, DivePac88, lost his long fight with illness on November 28, 2011.

He was a special person, always full of good humor and wit. I never met him in person, but I know I am not the only one around these parts who called him friend.

Fair winds, Des!

Goodbye Des... you will be remembered... fare well thread brother...

I've just used the green button for the first time in my 9+ years on the forums. I hope my brethren (and sistern) will join in doing so rather than desecrating this page that should be dedicated solely to the memory of one of ours by rising to the bait and replying to the green-button-worthy-troll.

Never got the opportunity to interact with DivePac88 but judging by all the comments, save one, it's apparent he was a swell chap. I joined just in time to at least read a couple of Herwin's posts before he passed. At any rate, it is sad to hear this. My thoughts and prayers to their friends and families.

I have had a lot of fun enteracting with Des on here, and I will really miss seeing him around. Seemed like he was always a happy person, regardless of the situation.

RIP friend.

In three years of reading this forum (and seldom posting myself), I've seen DivePac88 answer to a lot of questions from newbies like me.  He may not have been the foremost expert on each and every subject matter, he was always eager to help, never patronizing newcomers, and like some have sayd, never had a word to prompt discouragement.

May he rest in peace and find a world of shiny seas and clear skies.

A truly sad day.

I admired Divepacs enthusiasm from afar. Although like most I've never met the man I feel close to him spiritually like others on the forum after years of reading what they have to say. I genuinely feel sorry today for not only his family who I imagine are dealing with sorrow that no words can heal but our loss as well.

He always had good thoughts and was quite pleasant with excellent suggestions and observations.

I'll echo Nemo's comment from above as well.
