Saturday morning tithe, THREAD dudes...

Hey-haven't heard much from our resident Viking dude lately. He on vacation?

Don't worry dude. I'm currently up north for a mixed weekend. On the positive side, we celebrated my eldest niece who attained legal age today. On the down side, we are burying a family relative tomorrow, who suicided when he got diagnosed with incurable cancer.

Otherwise, will have a mini-break with the forums. As the coming spring will be hectic I will keep tabs on what´s happening, but will not show up often. Might change when things slow down the coming summer.

Morning Folks... Just been watching Roadrunner cartoons on Sky, found the channel by accident. Been laughing by sides-out for the last hour, I forgot how excellent that dumb Coyote is.

Absolute favourite moment of ALL Roadrunner cartoons for me: the Coyote has rigged up a huge pile of rocks to drop on the road on the pull of a rope. Roadrunner comes, Coyote pulls the rope, rocks fail to fall. Coyote runs out and starts poking the rocks with a stick.

After a few seconds of that he pauses, his pupils get really small and he holds up a sign saying "In heaven's name, what am I doing????". Then he opens a tiny umbrella over his head, just before getting buried.

Me too... LFFAO.

My favorite is when he shows all different ways you can screw up when using a catapult for bird hunting.

Ahhh ... We can agree on something at least!

It was a long time since I saw it last, so I wasn't sure if it was the same.

Does your husband play WitP?

Good night all...

Spent the day with my son playing Star Fleet Battles! First time for him, I have been playing since 1982.

My WITP:AE opponents gave me all kinds of good natured grief on FB for not processing turns...

Sounds like an X-Men villain: ANTI-CYCLONE!!!

Either way, said phenomenon is going to bring cold weather for the next seven days at least. And here I thought I'd get through the winter without my ski underwear. Nope!

Nope. No mountains in this country; I bought ski underwear because it's "long-sleeved" and warm.

Gentlemen, may I borrow some space in The Thread for a question?

I am told, that in this forum, all that there is to know about naval operations during WWII can be found.

Could you help me with what ship was on the longest cruise, in days, during WWII without reaching a friendly anchorage or port? How many days did the cruise last? Replenish at sea is allowed.

Edit: Truly grateful for an answer or suggestions on possible ships and cruises.

Almost certainly one of the Kriegsmarine merchant raiders would qualify for that.

The Atlantis, for example, sailed from Germany on March 11, 1940 and was sunk on November 22, 1941. That's just over 18 months at sea.

Slept way in this morning, ran some errands with my family, my wife is filling the house with amazing cooking smells, and we're now settling in to watch a few recorded episodes of Leverage...... with Rum Punch!

Great day!

Could a US ship have spent more time at sea in a single cruise by beeing replenished at sea?

I'm sure they could have, but the USN was much more concerned about the mental health of the crew than many other nations, mostly because they could afford to be. The USN became the most experienced at underway replenishment by the end of the war.
