Long time lurker here.

I have fought in three wars and 2 conflicts. I have never given up or surrendered to anything. But I must admit I am beaten. I will be dead and in my grave before this game ever gets published. I know Steve has worked his tail off on this project. Still I can see the handwriting on the wall. It seems like many of the fixes are things that are being fixed were in the process of being fixed years ago. For example, how many versions of theme engine has Steve gone through? How many operating systems have been released since the project start: XP, XP Pro, Vista, Win7, and now Win8. So yes I give up, and I quit. Thank you for your hard work Steve, but enough is enough. I am glad you have enough integrity to keep working on this project though.

I have not been here in a year or so due to my failed eyesite. I barely can see so my wife reads messages to me and is typing this response. Lotromon please leave Bo alone! He became a true believer in the game.

More than you could afford Ouch lies and deceit wow. How do you really feel! Everyone eventually sees the light lotromon some take longer than others I am paticulary slow just ask the guys on cod2. But in the end common sense and seeking the truth always wins out. Thank you for your observation though, deeply appreciated.

Full caps or partial caps? Jose what are you to do when this game breaks on July 31st and you Europeans go on your annual August vacation. I smell a divorce coming. The reason I brought this up is because us Americans wish that we could get a whole month off, its called jealousy

Hahaha In my case, very atipycal, I am usually able to take them whenever I want, unless there is a peak at work, which is very unusual.

Besides, this year I intend to take 3 additional months off because of tax reasons affecting only this year, and I also will get 3 weeks off to compensate the many hours studying hungarian language in the evenings, through the UE program FORCEM which will pay the firm my salary to encourage studying while working.

Plus (1 month reduced to) three weeks (because those 3 months don't give right to holidays), plus the bunch of additional days I have, I am going to work like 7 months in all this year if everything goes like projected (atipycal and expensive, three months w/o salary, yay!) so she will get bored to have me home, even though I will take a course on advanced accountancy to renew my knowledge...

abj sorry to read that, wish you the best.

Tax reasons what are taxes I am one of the 66% of Americans who pay no taxes nice huh. Why the Hungarian lanuage? In the good old USA we would all be better off to learn to speak Spanish because in a few years it will be the national language Wow how about ABJ.

Cause my wife is hungarian. She speaks also spanish and english but her family and friends learnt either german or russian as a second language and I need to be translated all the time. Youngsters now learn english or german, or both. Also, provided my firm expanded that way, it could be a competitive difference, almost nobody here, much less in my firm speak hungarian. Right now we're at several EU countries already.

Bo,

First if you read my post I placed a wink on there and also clearly put JK (Just Kidding). My point was you used to be on one side and flipped and I was on the other side and flipped. As to my military record I have done Desert Storm, IRAQ and Afghanistan. I currently have 26 years in the US Army. What have you done?

If you took my statement as an attack my sincere apologies. I just remember when you used to be closer to werewolf's opinions than where you are today.

First let me say I put my foot in my mouth again Saw the jk and the wink but it went right over my head. Its called old age I did take it as an attack because I have tried very hard to correct my negative attitude that I have portrayed in the past. I think we are all getting the jitters again and getting very anxious. Not your fault but it brought back bad memories. I deeply appreciate your service to our nation and I was being very sarcastic which I apoligize. Not sure of Werewolf but I was in the Crussdaddy camp which is probably 10 times worse I was in the 501st Divarty of the 101st Airborne, and was very fortunate to never see combat. Again thank you for your service but if you want real combat play Cod2 Hang in there, listen to Jose, he has never led me wrong. Steve is busting his chops to get this awsome game to us cyber war game generals.

Bo

I agree with lotromon,

What began life as an interesting game with a number of interesting ideas has morphed into a monstrosity that has taken almost 10 years to get onto a computer! Almost half a million WHEN? hits!!

There'll be an audience of about 50 grognard playing, similar number who buy but get swamped by the detail and a couple of hundred wishing they tried to emulate WIF version 1 rather than its later hyped up offspring.

Interested lurker, not going to buy it.

Well, thats up to you.

However the amount of traffic on this and the "when?" thread tends to weigh against your opinion of the overall interest- and it's certainly not just grognards from what I read.

It's not the game that has morphed, WIF itself is the "monstrosity" (and I say that with immense affection as a player!:-)) whose intricacies, ambiguities and sheer complexity still deal out unforseen logical issues even this far into testing.

I've tended to avoid these threads and kept my head down with testing. But I would like to just say guys, keep the faith. We are not far off now and this game is so much more than CWIF

Wow when I read a post like this it hurts a little. JeffK you are a Matrix Legion of Merit poster and I have to respect that. I know it does not mean you are a fan or player of WIF board game or the ADG Cwif game. But I asume you play many other Matix's games. I have never played the board game but I have the CWIF game and it's pretty decent if you don't mind playing against yourself I have always looked for a good semi-complex war game, WITP is a little too complex. this game seems to be between that and maybe Third reich and the SC series on Battlefront. About a year ago I was in your camp and was vehement about my feelings in posting much to my dismay. I was frustrated as everyone else is here but when Red Prince started to do the AAR's my spirits picked up a little. I complained and was a little nasty at times but since then I came to realize how terribly complicated this game is with all its rules I have trully changed. I dont know if you know this but it took ADG people almost 5 or 6 years to complete CWIF. Steve's version makes that game look like a loaf of unsliced bread The old saying it's better than a loaf of sliced bread is really true This I do know that once this game comes to be it will be backed to the hilt by Steve and Matix. There are some games put out by Matrix that are not backed up and are left to die on the vine [they shall remain ? for the moment unless someone asks me] ] And I heard but don't hold me to this if you buy the game you get a weekend at Steve's house on OAHU when his renovations are done hopefully in the next 5 years I had to edit this part, "hopefully in the next five years" I meant the renovations not the game

I never surrender :-)

Of course the long time since starting the project is the major problem mentioned in numerous threads here. There were a few design decisions made at the atart of the project which are not reversible, that may have contributed to that time spending process (making RAC as near to RAW as possible, including CWIF-Code, working with only one man instead of a team). Of course because of the delay there were additional problems from chaning OS, Theme Engines etc. But to discuss these decicison now is not very useful.
In the last months there were additional manpower integrated in the process and probably this speeds up the programming process.

Of course I'am sad about the delaying because too, since many years I look to play WIF on the computer. In the RL many able players drop out because of familiy business or other reasons, so Matrix WIF will revive my WIF-plying ability significantly. And so I will buy the product if it's relaesed this year (not probable in my eyes), next year or thereafter. Steve "sworen off" in relaesing ETAs. I think this decision is right . My only fear is, that some major problem (like the end of the world in 2012 or so) will result in and end to MWIF before it is released. But waiting for MWIF is not the most delayed project. Since 1993 I wait for the fifth book in the CHTORR-Trilogy, and I will wait until David Gerrold will go in the next Dimension (I wish of course that he have many happy years until than, regardeless from the point if he writes this book or not). So waiting for MWIF for me is only half the time of waiting for the mentioned book.

By the way: not to surrender can lead to very much exitement even if not winning. In the EURO WIF 2011 CON I lost my first game against very able players by complete conquest of the axis in SO43. And in my opinion if we dind't lost TOKYO vs. a not so strong invasion, we could hold out in the Balkan Redout until late 44 or early 45. It was one of my funniest games and in the end we won the "Fight to the end"-Award and about 50.- €.

So I will not surrender here too!
