Really Decent is really gone now. Must have pulled the plug on his airline.

I have not had a chance to adjust prices on the routes I battled him on.

Spent much of the day swapping in Vanguards for DC-9-40s on the routes I am battling Northern Bird on.

In the process, I have managed to cut my DC-9-40 fleet in half. I have also swapped in Tridents for all my 727-200s and sold them.

Once I get rid of the last DC-9-40, I will move on to paring back the One-Elevens.

I have been using the 737-200Adv to replace the DC-9s (except for on the NB routes), and will use the 737s as well on the One-eleven phase out.

Clearing up the mess after dealing with Wog is an eye opener. I've gt 1000 free slots at Luton now, compared with about 20 at this time yesterday I'm also within touching distance of the top 10 now, I was briefly there this morning so hopefully the new deliveries and improving prices should push me there for good.

FlyUK is shedding 747s into the bin now.

Did you have any hand in that?

Snagged 8 of jetexpress's 747s out of the used plane bun.

He is spiraling downwards, ranked 201 and dropping fast.

Looks like he has one route into UK: LHR-SFO--might want to check that out.

Possibly, not deliberately though. Honest!

I've been fighting a few UK based airlines on the more popular long haul routes, but I think Fly has reached the point where I don't need to be afraid of anyone Wog Airlines is dead after annoying me, I'm actually quite pleased at how that one turned out. From 78th ranked to bust in a year, mostly through my work.

He's still around though, and with plenty of future orders still outstanding he may just end up being useful after all

So in other words, his airline corpse on life support may be a source of planes to acquire. You want him comatose so that he cannot pester you, but still breathing long enough for you to suck up his pending deliveries.

You're a bloody vampire!

Yep! He's got 58 747s on order, so appropriating several of those would allow a big boost to my airline whilst I'm still taking delivery of 747s from my own orders.

He seems to be logging in but not actually doing anything. He probably could have saved his airline if he'd been smart about it.

The bin is a great source for 747 pickups.

I have the following in my fleet at the moment:
63 747-100s
74 747-200Bs
83 747-200Cs

Throughout this game, I have only ordered 747-200Cs.
That means, at minimum, 137 of those planes were bin pickups. I would guess that a significant number of the 747-200Cs were also from the bin.

You have to diligently watch the bin for them and then be quick on the trigger once they hit.

Better be real quick on the trigger. Some unnamed people have those fancy smancy smart phones and never miss out on a bin dump. LOL

I'd have no cash left if I had a smartphone! I'm trying not to spend too much cash on aircraft I can't use right now. I've got a small group of useful types that I'll buy on sight and several others that I'll buy if I can find some use for them easily.

The purchases set me back $2.1 billIon and left me with about $2 billion in cash.

I have routed all but one of the 747s, either to empty routes I had run across before and marked down, or to sub in for 707s that were being used as placeholders. The 747s added roughly $5 million to my DoP.

The 737s are needed as I had nearly exhausted my supply and was down to waiting
for deliveries or dipping into the bin for 3+ yr old ones.

The IL-18Ds are being used for a short runway airport. I had already cleared out the bin of its supply.

I'm sitting on 10 billion, I'm buying expensive jets but Boeing aren't turning them out quick enough for me to spend the cash It's a nice reserve to fall back on in an emergency or route war though.

Every time that I seem to get the $4-$5 million range a bunch of planes that I need fall into the bin.

Also at times when I get up to about the $5 billion range, I will spend $1 billion or so to pay off some leases.

Europa has been shedding planes into the bin.

Dixie, is this your handiwork? ;-)

Those on routes with him may wish to consider putting the squeeze on to add to his discomfort.

Not exactly. After I saw he was shedding planes I've started attacking some of his routes, but it's not my work this time. I suspect he's over expanded his airline.

Big bin dump on now!

Managed to grab 34 CL-44 and 28 747-200C. The 747s are only a couple of years old, the Yukons are going to head out and take on Europa methinks.

I missed most of it. Did snag 25 CL-44s of the 5-6 yr old variety. The 747s were long gone.

Congrats on your big score.

You might be missing another one. Another 20 or so 747-200B are in the bin. Mostly the wrong engines for my fleet though

R2 - Ansett is finished. Bolt is down from 168 planes to 60. The owner has not been logged in for 8 days, and the unused gate rental will keep Bolt's value falling even though the remaining planes are in service.

An R4 update is much needed - planes to be reorganised this weekend.

I've grabbed a good chunk of those. That should mean I can retire the last of the 707-320 fleet now and open some new long haul routes out of the UK, not that there are many routes left without competition now.

There are two Concordes in there as well, they've both been bought and sold three times in the past three months

I bought approximately 20 of the 747s.

Have them already routed.

Did not even check to see which 707s I had on routes that needed replacing. I was able to place all the 747s on empty routes; granted the majority of those routes were carrying 200 pax at distances of 6800 miles.

I would sooner plop a plane on a route like that then drop it into a 400-600 pax route that has 5 people on it, each dropping its prices ever lower.

I had noticed that ABC was also picking up some of them. I was curious where they had come from and pulled up the aircraft information screen for the newest 5. Sure enough, ABC had just leased them. I then proceeded to purchase the next 10, route them, come back and purchase 5, route them, then come back again until they were all gone.

There were still some DC-10-30s last I checked.

Boeing ought to send me a thank you letter. I believe that I have purchased/leased more planes from their 747 line than any other airline in this R2 world.

2ndACR keeps proding my to purchase not only the Concordes but also their Soviet gas-guzzling counterparts, the Tu-144S. Wants me to run an all-supersonic airline.

Europa acquired 14 of those. And where is he now? Shedding planes left and right to the repo man.

Those supersonics always seem to be the kiss of death.

Look at it this way - you will never be ranked 300/300 if you keep those ancient sub-sonic planes.

and who doesn't want to cruise the M25 at mach 2 (j7-j15 maybe?)

---------------

edit: IL96-300 Warning
After someone asked about the fuel flow, this plane has had it's fuel flow more than doubled in world R4, and probably in other worlds as well. It used to be a good buy - not any more.

My ancient subsonic fleet----lol

Heck, over half of my fleet is still prop planes.
They are fuel efficient and they are great for squeezing people flying gas guzzling jets.

People jump a route where I am flying F-27s, CL-44s or IL-18Ds and try to squeeze me using DC-9-40s or Super VC -10s.
After I pick myself up off he floor from laughing to hard, I drop fares 20% and then listen for them to squeal.

Okay, heads up and listen up.

In the US, World and Sea Air are on the way out so anyone spots a route with them on it, jump on for the ride. In Korea, we have Amerea being a pain in the butt......so everyone flying to Korea, jump his routes and squeeze hard.

Chijohnoak does not want it said, but Piedmont, Planet Express are pains, if you find a route they have, feel free to take a bite out of their butts. No all out blitz, but apply some pain. And Transair in R2 is the same guy from O2 who closed down shop without notice and is rising on my target list. He is not a protected member, so feel free to dish some pain there to.
