Hi all,

Well, we are finished with hockey tryouts for another year. Alex made a single A level team with the Carolina Lightning. He was comfortably the best goalie out of the 4 there, but we still did not want to take anything for granted given our experiences.

Despite being the best of the goalies there, the coach came up to Alex as we were leaving the rink and told him that he made it easy for the evaluators. It was not because he was so much better than the other goalies, but because he outworked everyone on the ice despite being the most skilled goalie.

I'm a very lucky and proud dad!

Congrats Mike!

BTW, where will he play?

Ow, just restarted a new AE GC with my old time AE opponent. Haven't played the game in 1,5 years.

He got the (from my perspective) harshest PH raid I've ever seen.

Not one Kate dropped bombs ... and he got 70 torpedo hits ...

On the sunk list appears ...;
ALL BB's
CA San Fransisco
CL Detroit
5 DD's
1 AVD
2 DM's
1 SS

... oh the horror ... but at least I don't have to worry about the BB's locking up the yard facilities or sending them to WC

Note: POW & Repulse each took three torp hits and are at 87 & 90 FLt damage. We'll see if I can save either of those. Doesn't look too promising, but I'll make a try.

ETA; ... and yes Andre, you are allowed to reply to this post with the one word.

What a gift to the islands' scrap iron industry! Capitalism in action.

Good job!

Actually it is where the township hall was once located. It is surrounded by my land. $1.00 and administrative costs.

Evil plan marches forward. Resistance is futile.

Until tomorrow then.

There was an ante-bellum plantation named Smithsonia not far from Athens, Georgia where Canoerebel and I went to college. It was one of the largest in northeast Georgia as old man Smith kept buying up property after property. It was said that "he wasn't greedy, he just wanted the property next to his!"

When I was living in the area Kenny Rogers bought up a big chunk of that old plantation and turned the brick cotton storage barns into stables for his horses.

I heard that when Cornelius Vanderbilt built Biltmore Estate he essentially climbed the hill where Biltmore sits and bought all of the land he could see, which was essentially most of western north carolina.

For those who haven't been to Biltmore...located in Ashville, NC...I highly recommend the visit...plus the wife/gf will probably like it more than you.

A slough is sort of a cross between a pond and a swamp, more like a pond; also called potholes. They were created from the last ice age. Fantastic for hunting waterfowl. And there thousands of them through the area. Google map between Devils Lake and Grand Forks and you can see what I mean.

Bottom land, more of a southern term for land in a low laying area commonly along some sort of water course.
