That goal was quite simply, sheer. football. genius. Maradona won the World Cup almost single-handed (and unlike 1978 this win was not tainted by the stench of bribery and match fixing). The fact he scored that cheated "goal" in the same match, obviously over-shadows the victory somewhat (certainly as far as the English are concerned) but cannot take away what Maradona achieved in 1986. One of the all-time greats of the game.

I don't know what the Netherlands and Portugal game is like but the Denmark - Germany game is a cracker.

Portugal vs Holland is a good game, Holland were all over Portugal but the Portugese have come right back into it and more.... Holland are out, I cannot see them scoring two.

Interesting fact: did you know Denmark are managed by Harry Potter in his later years?

Arrgggghh! The Dutch coach has finally made it: destroying the beautiful Dutch football philosophy. The last time we saw the "amazing" Holland was in the last Euro Cup (and right, the Russians kicked them out the same).

Now what do we have? They abandoned the über offensive football... but they haven't learned yet how to properly defend! A poor defence you can more or less afford if you manage to score a lot of goals... but if you score less (as per now) it's indeed a problem

P.S.: and right, I know this new philosophy could have won them a world cup (the last one). And that's the problem: now they have to think this is the right way.

10 minutes left. It may be all over for Denmark. They have to score twice in the final 10 minutes. But Germany look the better side. They have had the best pressure all the game.

It does. Germany are worth the 2-1 win. They have been the better side. I think that you can score goals against them though. They have had defensive problems.

Netherlands on nil points! They lost a lot a friends at the world cup final. That has to be shocking for the Dutch.

Denmark very unlucky - just before the German goal they had a clear shout for a penalty - Germans very lucky to get away with that.....

Right I hope everyone is still tuning in to these. The first Quarter Final I think is on Thursday so I need the predictions for the QF's before kick-off of the first one.

Quarter-Finals (so far)

Portugal v Czech Republic

Germany v Greece
