Fort Andrews had a similar structure within it's high walls. It was used to store ready ammo.

Fort Jefferson is located in the Dry Tortugas, 70 miles west of Key West, FL. It is a 2 1/2 hour boat ride. The island is called Garden Key which is funny since there is no fresh water in the Dry Tortugas.

Yes, it is the hot shot furnace. Four shot could have been pulled from the furnace at once.
