Paul, WB, I am downloading the complete version of the 4.5 file with Getright. My question is this. It says the file is 360mb in the text, but GR says 344mb, that's 16mb off the mark. That's a substational amount of missing data if it's true? Also should I even be bothering to do this since 4.6 will be released soon. Will it be an upgrade as before or a complete download? And any idea as to when it will be available? I have seen on other threads around the 21st. I did try to search for previous info on my questions but did not really find anything. ------------------ 1stSgt Semper Fi "Steel on Target" Company B 1st Tank Bn

Well Im not WB or Paul, but ill try to help ya out. if they file says 360 MB then you may end up with incomplete download when your done if you say getright only says 344. I think 4.6 will be just an upgrade , at least at first...I may be wrong on this however hope i helped in some way... Alby [This message has been edited by Alby (edited January 21, 2001).]

Just wanted to say 1stSgt that they usually release most of the patches as first an upgrade for people already with the full version, and then as the full version shortly there after. Hope that helps. Oh, and I see from your signature that you were with 1st tanks. I was with 2/7 myself and I was just wondering if you were with tanks after they got to 29 Stumps or not? Just looking to find some brother desert Marines. ------------------ USMCGrunt -When it absolutely, positively, has to be destroyed overnight.

1stSgt, I downloaded version 4.5 last week. Getright showed only a download of 344 mb, but by the time it was all said and done, at least another 16 mb's were also loaded. I don't know that much about computers, but I do know this download works.

There are lots of different download engines, but just for the record I've used GoZilla for a long time and never had any problems.

Just checking 1stSgt. When I first got to 29 Palms. The Tank unit on base was 3rd Tank Bn. After we got back from the Gulf, somewhere along the line, they had become 1st Tanks. Just wanted to check. ------------------ USMCGrunt -When it absolutely, positively, has to be destroyed overnight.

Ursus, Thanks for the update. I had figured that's what happened. Guess when we traded in the M60s for M1s the Pentagon thought we had a big enough "Force Modifier" and decided to cut back a bit. God forbid the Marines get too strong. We lost a lot of good Marines in the cutbacks after 92. Just out of curiosity. Did you guys ever get that Soviet tank running that you brought back from the Gulf. I remember watching you guys haul that thing around just the other side of DeValle Rd. and we were wondering if you were trying to "drag start" the bugger. Just wondering. ------------------ USMCGrunt -When it absolutely, positively, has to be destroyed overnight.

USMCGrunt, You are right about the lose of good marines in 91' & 92' I knew a lot of kick ass guys that left for one reason or another if you know what i mean. I am not sure about the soviet tank around Devalle Rd., that was most likely dealt with the intelligence types. We did get a T-72 running in are area by Kuwait International Airport though.

Sorry to bring the thread back to the original question but the difference may have to do with the way the same data is displayed. 1Kb is 1024 bytes so strictly 1Mb is 1024 squared or 1,048,576 bytes. However some programs display the downloads using 1Mb equals 1,000,000 bytes or worst still 1,000 times 1kb. Confusing huh??? Both answers are probably right in their own way. Reg. P.S. Keep going with the conversation, this is quite interesting.

Did you get it squared away, Top? 4.6 will be an upgrade, though most likely you can get it also as a complete download. Sorry about the problem! WB ------------------ In Arduis Fidelis Wild Bill Wilder Coordinator, Scenario Design Matrix Games

Exactly. The exact file size is 360 712 066 bytes, or 352 258 kB, or 344 MB. You did get the complete download.

I downloaded version 4.5 using GetRight which showed it as a 344mb download but then kept going for a little while after it reached the 344mb mark and everything worked fine. By the way my ISP was having poblems during the download and my average download soeed was 2.5kbps. 40 hours the download took, during which my computer crashed 3 times, froze twice, and I was disconnected numerous times. I was amazed that the file came trhu ok. I now swear by Get Right.

Gents thanks for the responses and I am getting the download just fine. I am back in the rear here for few, before going back out to my Company. Been watching M1's firing the past few days and nights. Truly an evil beast. ------------------ 1stSgt Semper Fi "Steel on Target" Company B 1st Tank Bn
