Chickenboy, Dixie, Treetop64 and USS America (+ anybody else who cares to partake) There is a new competition in the Australian Beauties thread. Given that we are about a month from the Olympics, this competition is on that theme.

I have made an initial nomination, and USS Mike, given your admiration for Ms Stoke's finely honed derriere, I hope this first nomination is to your taste!!

Do you have that swimmer gal who keeps getting abused for posting bikini pictires?

Thank goodness that I don't take cream in my coffee.

The alleged perpetrator is Vladimir Mishkov, not Nik.

On a 'totally unrelated' note, anyone know Comrade Red Mouse's whereabouts? He go to Seattle recently?

Nope. Never been to Seattle. Never plan to....

Evening tithe... Have had a southerly blast for the last few days, and it's been snowing and very cold. As these southerly airstreams we get down here, in the south of Southern Island of NZ come all the way from the Antarctic, and boy it feels like it today.

what? you want to know what a "naughty" coffee stand is? There are several around Seattle. Never been to one though there's one along the way to the mare i'm training. Its called Honey Bee Expresso and the barrista wears a very skimpy yellow bikini. Might have to stop in and um......sample the coffee.

Boobies?

Guys I'm a little concerned about something I read in another (now locked) thread. When you get heavily involved with a forum for people who play a particular game, isn't it EXPECTED that you purchased the game? I mean from a moral point of view. Isn't it otherwise like sneaking into the back of a cinema , then complaining about the movie?

Maybe RevRick can weigh in and give us a "provessional" view. Green button aside, I don't feel like I'm dealing with a troll. I feel like I'm dealing with a theif.

No, he's not expected to purchase it. He's never claimed to have played it and I dont think he's ever said anything which would lead me to believe that he has a stolen copy. But he regularly complains about game mechanics of a game he's never played, which strikes me as odd at the least and mentally unbalanced at the other extreme.

Incredibly and against all predictions Italy won against Germany...

Final is between Spain (current World Champion and current European Champion) and Italy!

Croatia was unfortunate to be in same group with both Spain and Italy... darn... and Croatia wasn't that far away in both games (with both Italy and Spain)...

Leo "Apollo11"

Are you insinuating that Croatia should be in the finals?

And I would say this is a topic best left undiscussed, especially here. Whether you consider him to be a troll or not, any such discussion would be the start of a slippery slope. I don't agree with everyone on the Matrix forums and I've had arguements with a couple of them but I don't think it's appropriate to be airing this type of feeling in public.

And that's the end of my input on this subject.

Shame that Mohawk thread degenerated into the usual BS. And this time I cant even blame diehl. What he was saying was generally nonsense but he was doing it in a civilized manner. Nik also did a very good job of presenting his arguments in a calm and reasoned manner despite making no secret of being fed up with diehl and his tricks. Some others, however.....

Sorry if I phrased myself badly. What I meant to say was that to my knowledge 1) he does not own the game 2) he has never seriously played the game and 3) he has no plans to start playing the game. And in counter to Steve is my opinion that there is nothing wrong with hanging around a wargame forum if you dont own the game.

On a separate topic entirely, it is also my opinion that people who dont own the game aught not have an opinion on its mechanics.

Dont really see a slippery slope. Its my opinion.

When I purchased the game , I read the little Blurb that Matrix used as part of the sales pitch. Free access to the forum was definately mentioned. Stolen a game? No. But using something that he's morally not entitled? Apparently others on this forum disagree with me. Next time someone camps out on your front lawn (or even your local park)...don't worry...their not really stealing it!

Is that your actual boat John?

Looks nice.. not that I know anything about boats other than how to fish out of them and ski behind them..

Nope, not mine. Those things start at $500K. I let the MegaMillions winners buy them and then hire someone like me to show them how to sail it.

Right now, I'm just doing little hotrods, like these. But I still do hull and keel design tweaks for the big racing boats, so I get rides

Matrix created this forum as a benefit for game users. In essence, payment for it's games went to creation of this forum , and paying for it's upkeep. That's what I was trying make clear. Apparently , like taking cable, water, and other services without paying for them, that's ok for some people. For us old geezers , not so much.

why thank you. And yes....the thread was interesting, till it got hijacked in the usual manner.

as for the issue of ownership. AWSteve asked the question so i'll offer the answer having been here since 2002. He keeps altering his story except for AE specifically, which he's never claimed to have owned, tried or borrowed etc. He has made claims to owning and playing UV....then later admitted he hadn't.....and has variously claimed to have played, tried, borrowed WitP stock briefly (the famous played the AI till March 42 gambit)..then later admitted he had done none of the above. At one point he boasted about not owning or playing WitP stock and taunted those of us who'd wasted our money on an "Axis Fanboy Fantasy." Recently he's claimed ownership/playing of UV/WitP stock again to justify his being on the forum and criticising it. Then he said he'd played PacWar and felt the engines were similar enough for him to pass judgement. As Tree pointed out, the key factor is his complete ignorance of the game's mechanics. End of story. My only suprise is that AW. wasn't aware of the fact till now. This has only been going on for 10+ years now.

Aparently the only way that I'm going to be able to let this go is to take a "time out" again. Otherwise some one is just going to set me off again. See you all in a while my friends,

Sorry Steve, not the same. If you want to draw a parallel, use your local coffee shop, which, like Matrix, is a business. If you go to Starbucks and without buying anything sit there chatting with your friends who have all bought a cup of coffee, I very much doubt that you will be asked to leave as long as you behave yourself and refrain from, say, spanking your monkey.

To continue the parallel, if you make constant comments about how bad the coffee is without ever (by your own admission) having bought a cup, you will probably get a few dirty looks but will not be thrown out. Nor will you get thrown out for repeating the same mantra about how you believe coffee should be made and that you think Turkish coffee is infinitely superior to Colombian coffee ad nauseum.

In the words of US Grant, "I can handle my enemies. It's my friends, my GD friends".
It's not "him" that really torques me up, it's the "oh don't rock the boat " attitude.

Some people have the attitude that "if he's not stealing from me, that's ok".
I seem to recall that not to long ago someone was suspended for a very long time for admitting that he cheated on a PBEM. So I guess I need to reconcile "Cheating is bad, stealing is OK". I need a drink and a good long time out. Like I said.....Later.

That looks like 5x more fun than sitting in the kiddie pool with my 2 yr old....

That would depend on the 2 yr old....

But, as you can see, even old guys like me can keep up with the sport and give Holy fits to the whippersnappers. It's one of those activities where you can mosey your condo throughout the Virgins or the Marquesas, or a sport where you can stay Olympic competitive till you die.
