There's no OPSEC there, which is not to say I don't alter some screenshots, in fact I'm working on one now. On the question of strategy or doctrine, it's interesting because I find the IJN doctrine of only going against warships foolish. Now some of you pipe in please who know that's a myth. I know myself that they often attacked transports of whatever kind. My doctrine (in this PBEM, not necessarily others in the future) is based in part on the inferiority of my torpedoes, and in part on the temporary strategic situation. I'm viewing my subs right now as a deterrent to the IJN being too adventurous with the KB, as there's a significant possibility of a price to pay. Once I feel competitive with them in CVs that will change. Until then, my subs are potential supply deliverers, but currently I have no valid targets (in my view, of course) and the presence of the KB presented an irresistable target. My subs happened to be fairly concentrated when the KB arrived, and how can you not go after them? You may have noticed that my doctrine with the Dutch subs has been somewhat different, and this is based in part on the high quality of their torpedoes, and their valiance as well. While I like concentrating them sometimes on likely target areas, in their case I'm most interested in sinking troop carrying vessels, as there is a lot of that activity going on at the moment. My priorities change from day to day however. Later on, I will be most interested in intercepting tankers and (please God) oilers. Especially ones headed east as opposed to west, as they catch fire more easily. In summary, for the moment I consider my subs tactical weapons, but before long I will consider them strategic. Later will come the day when ASW on both sides is so good it will be very difficult to be a submariner. I am terribly envious of the IJN subs that have their own avian reconnaisance, and I wish I could combine some aerial anti-ship capability that could reach the areas where my subs operate, in part to suppress their ASW. The Americans never came up with their own Bettys though. Or Condors for that matter. They did some work with B-25s and other types, but nothing with those kind of ranges (that I know of, someone always corrects my ignorance of my own ignorance with some inconvenient facts). I hate it when that happens.
