The first rum and coke of the day has been poured.

As soon as the dryer vent cleaning guy is finished, it will be on to a turn for my "Yank wannabe" opponent.

Mike, drink it pure and without ice. Every other way to drink whisky is a sacrileg!

A fine sippin' drink on a hot summer day. Gin 'n tonic would be a satisfactory choice as well.

Gentleman Jack is NOT to be mixed with Coke for a summer drink!

But Gentleman Jack is on the lower scale of the good whisky bar - but it is on it already

I do have most of a bottle of Gentleman Jack here.

I'm sure it will be an empty bottle by the end of October.

Edit..... Crap!

Agreed. Not the best Tennessee Sour Mash Whiskey, but passable. If you've got as many relatives as I have from Kentucky, you'll only call it a bourbon once by accident.

Yeah, buddy! It doesn't get much better than "hotseat AE!"

Ok, so maybe it does, but there will be AE.

Reading a blog on the 'art' of settling the check German style. I'm sure this rings true with you, herr Schnitzengruben?

Sure. There are some important rules:
1. A women always has to say the check has to be paid individually. She must never assume that you pay it.
2. If you are eating with someone you don't want to get in your bed (see 1), everyone pays for himself.
3. Paying for others mean you either want to get them into bed (see 1), or that you are bragging about how much money you have.
4. Only difference is drinking among friends. There, each one pays a round, continuing through the group. So finally everyone has payed exactly one round and thus only paid his own beer

My friends solve this problem thorugh the game of Credit Card Roulette. Everybody puts one credit card into a hat or like object, and CC's are drawn one at a time ..last card taken pays the bill .. typically this involves 4 figures ..amoungst 12 - 18 friends but a couple of 5 figure bills have been reached with the Louis XIII cordels and expensive bottles of wine ... I might also add that I have witnessed a quick 2 out 3 Rochambeau contest to determine the "winner" ...

Just a little funny in this light ... during my days with corporate america we did a bonding thing at Rene a french restaurant in Sedona AZ. Needless to say this bill reached 4 figures fast for 20 diners. When the bill came three equal directors began to argue their hire / promotion date in a reverse Chad/Bromhead conversation. The most senior Director was honored with the privilege and the need to justify the expense. This story gets better. Now this fine Director begins to question the bill going line by line and confirming each item while teh Maitre d waits paitently at 1am to close the restaurant. In about 15 minutes into this charade I scream out .."OK! Who got the chicken sandwitch!!" The bill was promptly addressed ...

...all excellent choices, my good bretheren...but a truly refreshing choice on hot summer days is a fine cadillac margarita on the rocks with just a hint of salt on the rim and freshly squeezed lime...yummy!!!

While Mrs. Chickenboy and I were away at Cozumel recently, I felt obliged to order at least one 'chick drink' whilest on the beach. They brought my "Coco loco" in a whole coconut (yes, locally harvested). The center milk / water was mixed with a high test rum and ice.

I drank it and promptly fell asleep on my beach chair under the palanga. When I woke up, the local blackbirds had eaten my pico de gallo salsa and the rest of my chips.

I have good offers right now - though unfortunately only in Germany.

But a tab with 5 figures is a little beyond my league, even when I get that job...

Evening tithe. Todays puppy pic. They are now getting more eager to try and explore the outside world (especially if there is some interesting human outside their box) They've had scant success so far ...

... except for this one who was the first to make it. He hung there in some kind of "Hey, I made it" wonderment for a couple of seconds, and then fell back into the box again
