Good lookin' crew there.

Realtor called today and thinks our house in Mac might be sold. That is the best news I have heard in 20 months on that place..

That is great news. I have my fingers crossed.

Good news, breeds good news.

The parts of my land that is underwater has been definitely accepted into the USDA/NRCS Water Bank Program.

Here's to everyone.

Congratulations, Schani!

Um, er..... what exactly does that do for you?

I get to almost break even at tax time.

Now, that, I will be happy to drink to this evening!

which race are they Nik? We bred Iclandic Horses for many years

the Equine race.

These two are of the Thoroughbred breed.

The black one is further subclassed as a JAP. (thats Jewish American Princess) Fussy.....prissy.....needs alot of attention and tolerates no rival females.

Equine?

Equine.....'Equus'

thats the official designation for the horsey race. Homo Sapian = man. Equus = horse (aka "Equines")

like dogs, there are many BREEDS of horses, Thoroughbred....Quarterhorse.....Mustang.....Morgan......Clydesdale etc etc etc.

Which race are they, Grollub?

I don't really know what the English race name is. Guess to closest would be Jamthound. There is a county in Sweden called Jamtland where these are supposed to originate from.

These are dogs used for hunting elk. They are usually very good at it, but at the same time have a stable psyche and is normally very social with and around people.

So can you take me on a good elk hunt when I'm in Sweden the next time?

Forget the elk. Its a fox hunt you're looking for.

nice. In that cases, I always use wikipedia. Simply enter your name and then switch to a different language.

That's how I learned that "Mercenary" is "Legosoldat" in Swedish!

Quite right

Oh dear. Thats too funny....

equuus is o-declination:
so the nominativ plural is equi!

And why would ask which race that is, when I don't know there are different races of horses?
Edit:
A false friend...
We call "breeds" "race" in German...

I even had a picture of a foal sleeping on my lap - but that was on pre-digital age..
Evidence of my change in teaching can't be posted here, as it is a family forum

Equid or Equidae are also in widespread technical usage for the group of animals otherwise referred to as horses or related to same.

A false friend? Definitely lost me in the translation on that one...

So while "Sea" means "ocean" in english, "See" means "lake" in German...

But it seems "race" might technically be right, it is mostly used for humans only.

Interesting Wikipedia article, Historiker...

Particularly this entry:

For example, the words preservative (English), préservatif (French), Präservativ (German), prezervativ (Romanian, Czech, Croatian), preservativ (Slovenian), preservativo (Italian, Spanish, Portuguese), prezerwatywa (Polish), презерватив "prezervativ" (Russian, Serbian, Bulgarian), prezervatif (Turkish), præservativ (Danish), prezervatyvas (Lithuanian), Prezervatīvs (Latvian) and preservatiu (Catalan) are all derived from the Latin word praeservativum. But in all of these languages except English, the predominant meaning of the word is now condom.

I'll have to make sure that I don't inquire about "Preserves" (fruit jam or jelly) or "Preservatives" (ingredients to add shelf-life of food products) in my food when I'm abroad.

Don't you dirty Europeans have something better to do than link every word to condoms or sex?
