Nice Per!

BTW, you are quite dressed - is it cold up there in Sweden although it is summer?

Leo "Apollo11"

No. I just planned on going on a short forest hike afterwards, so I put on long-legged trousers to ward off the mosquitoes.

You have mosquitoes in your forests there? Here, we have forests in our mosquitoes.

Uhm ... did I say just mosquitoes? I really meant sparrow sized kamikaze mosquitoes. You need a shotgun to fend them off.

Early morning tomorrow as I have to take my family to the airport for their 2 week trip to the Turks. Big Daddy has a fantastic new job that he loves, but has not earned any vacation time yet, so I get to stay home and take care of the dogs. Of course, this means at least a turn a day with Torsten in our AE match.

Taken from my AAR... which you should all follow

sooo...

We had a golf tourny today put on by the company that does my audit.. yada yada..

In Wichita Kansas. We were very close to McConnell Airforce Base.. tankers fly in and out all day...however...

A B17, B24, AND P51 were flying around!!!!!!!!! So close, you could almost see the pilot in the B24. Things of BEAUTY...

They were flying around and my smart phone was in my bag.. scrambled and missed the B17 and P51 pictures... and then a B24 showed up, so I RAN back to get it finally and got a picture as it was turning away. AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME. The sound was BEAUTIFUL.. did some research, and I THINK they're going to be at the Wichita Air Show... this guy is going and taking pictures... the gentleman in my group was from Wichita.. retired coop mgr.. said they give retired vets rides all of the time in the area...wonder how a non vet, non military person (me) could get a ride.. I am guessing I should look into it...

Sorry I missed it when it was DIRECTLY overhead...

I am assuming they were flying from McConnell... could have been Jabara...

When I was in highschool at State Golf... they were practicing on Stratotankers I guess... it was touches and goes maybe? They would just fly down and take off constantly.. must have done it 200 times or so during the day.

I watched the A-6's and F-14's doing touch and goes all day long when I was stationed at NAS Oceana, and, of course, all the rest of the crew when I was on The Boat. I almost always worked nights, 7-7, and would spend many hours rubber necking on Vulture's Row in the mornings after work. It never gets old.

Nice picture anyways, Jeff. I'm always forgetting my camera at auspicious moments, so don't feel bad about not having it for the P-51 and B-17.

FWIW, We had these guys up here a week or so ago. A regular trio making the airshow circuit. Likely you-a non-vet, non-military person could book a ride for either a 30 min or one hour flight by paying them a lot of money.

Good luck!

Our Mountain-Germans will be happy, the time for the rebirth of the navy might come:
http://www.welt.de/politik/ausland/article108315630/Griechische-Insel-will-sich-Oesterreich-anschliessen.html

The Greece island Ikaria thinks about holding a referendum whether to join Austria. The island managed to win its independence on its own in 1912 against the Osmans, but decided to join Greece soon after. The unification was made by the signing of a treaty with a duration of 100 years.

The choice for Austria was made, because they dislike Turkey and the island was occupied by both Germany and Italy in the 2nd WW. So Austria seemed the natural choice.
