Here's the latest state of the home islands. I've got only about 43 days worth of resources so I need to step up the imports.

There was a one-sided surface fight last night where by some miracle I got a hit on a CA. I've got a BB and a CA nearby to help out but
I don't dare bring them to bear while Jim's carriers are within range. The surface group is headed NE and the carriers appear to be
headed east so I'm guessing this situation isn't over yet. I've got some carriers headed to the area but they are still a couple of weeks
away. Maybe Jim won't stick around to play after all.

One of my subs, I-7, in two separate attacks seems to have gotten some torpedo hits on a TK at Midway. He ( the sub ) is rapidly
running low on torps though.

Two separate groups of Allied ships were sighted off the NW coast of Australia. I've got some surface forces headed that way even as
we speak.

Here's a new development: Jim has moved at least a squadron of the AVG into the Hanoi area to qwell my Nates. I may have to hunt
around for some Oscars to move there to help out.

There was another raid just north of Singapore and there was no Allied CAP yet again. I guess Jim is saving the fighters for the
defense of Singers.

Hey Moo: I hate to have to be the one to tell you this but most of the ships reported hit show no damage at all. FOW I guess. I have no
doubt that your pilots are sighting a lot of stuff however, there's a lot of stuff out there to sight.

LOL!!! Oh well, at least I THUNK it wasnt all bad last turn

Also, I found a TK that has some damage and on the front it doesn't show any major kinds but on the flip side it lists the engine damage
as major. So..............???

hmmm, I dont think I've ever seen only "one point" of engine damage being classified as major before... BTW wasnt it a DD that you were referring to in the previous post? Still I learn something new everyday...

It's not really how much, AFAIK it's more or less a random chance. If you get a lot of flotation or engine damage as battle damage, then likely some of it will be major. But even the little, accumulating damage from normal operations can include major damage. Maybe a bearing that can't be fully serviced without pulling out other vital parts. Anything that requires big facilities to get at it.

I don't remember a load of oil from Balikpapan arriving at the home islands before this so I'm thinking that this load of oil from Balikpapan
that will arrive at the home islands tomorrow is the first. It's taking about two weeks transit time for the trip.

After I captured Singkawang I moved some AF dudes in there and moved the INF dudes to capture something else and Jim has moved
his ground troops BACK into Singkawang threatening my AF dudes. So now I gotta find some ground troops to force them out AGAIN.
Sneaky dude that Jim.

I got curious about where all my high-fuel cities are and used the "show all bases" button to do that. While I was there I discovered,
quite by accident that you could sort on aviation support and find where all your aviation support dudes are and which cities don't have
enough etc. Lots to discover about this game I see.

Larry,
I would LOVE to be able to take credit for that move, alas it was the CPU. Because I did'nt do anything with the unit when it got ejected from Sinkawing. I'm guessing the LCU target was still set to Sinkawing, so it moved back there on its own?

I'll try for a win just to mess with you - but the unit there isnt any better than your AF pukes!

Thanks. I'm making an effort to keep it going. I can't get Moo to post very much so it looks like it's mine I guess. Hint, hint.

Yeah, I know. I'm running low on unoccupied PB's and DD's so I'm afraid I have quite a few unescorted TF's running around. They
are just begging for some sub attention.

Edit: I just now ( Sunday early am ) received Jim's moves and did the combat replay but I'm going to have to do Rob's moves first since
he sent me his moves a few minutes before Jim did. First come first served. But here's the combat report for those of you who can't
wait for the AAR to be updated:

Larry,

It's not that I'm not posting, you are doing a fine job of covering the war. . . I am getting my buttkus kicked at every turn.

I do not do well with the visuals, so you are filling in admirably there.

We are a little over two months into the war, Here's my views

Phillipines Plans have gone well - so far. Manila should hold out until Feb42, I cannot expect any more than that.

Australia Larry has taken a few bites here, just starting to attack the Continent itself. NZ is mostly under Jap control, Port Moresby is holding out for now - losing it will be bad.

C-B-I China is not suffering too badly, my rookieness hasnt hurt me too much as Larry hasnt drove for the plains... yet. India isn't doing anything productive and I'm building up as fast as I can.
Burma is slowly being overrun, looks like its not high on Larry's list - but that will probably change once the Phillipines fall.

No. Pacific Larry has had a few exploratory ships/subs up here, no attacks so far. I dont see this as Larry's route - but I'm still sending the historical units here anyway.

West Coast Enemy Subs - and more Subs, and MORE Subs, are taking a toll on me here. . . I mistakenly let too many ASW capable ships go in for refit (Hobson's choice) and the Allies suffered from lack of escorts for the past month. February will be another challenge month as several more DD's are slated for refit.

Midway Larry has put 3-4 subs at the doorstep here, he has sunk most of the resupply ships I've sent -forcing me to resupply by Air- I need to get some fuel there for ANY kind of forward base ops.

I'm not expecting any wins until at least mid- late 42. The key is not losing any more capital ships before I get reinforcements - easier said than done! I sent my CV's and a SCTF to the Home Islands to test Larry's reaction, AND to disrupt his unchecked advance (he will pull back some units to the Home Is. after this).

This is my first AAR (and it shows), I am pretty happy overall with the game, Larry is a great opponent and the advice I've gotten here is invaluable... I'm just amazed over 6,000 hits reading our adventure, and I know its mostly because of Larry's literary & visual pix skills doing it. So why mess with the success?

There was a chance encounter during the night and both TF's avoided conflict. It's a signal that Jim is afoot in the area however. I'll
have to check out what else is there and where they are going.

Here's the first of three separate surface combats near Port Hedland. Lots of Allied ships bit the dust and more yet will sink in two other

This is the second and third encounters at Port Hedland. This finishes off the Allied ships there. All of them went to Davy Jone's
locker.
