Sorry for the delay in getting back to my brothers about the summit. After dropping Andre we then spent another late night at the Navy ball. After a couple of weeks of late nights, not enough sleep and WAAAAAAAY to much hard alcohol (courtesy of Andre and his OUTSTANDING tastes in potable alcohol) this senior citizen crashed. Can run with the "young punks" I guess. But it was tremendous fun! So I officially declare the second annual Nebraska Thread brothers summit a complete success ! I don't know where I'll be next year , but where ever the fates (and the USN) send Lou and I , we will have another summit next year . (Illinos?Florida? West Virginia?DC?GUAM!!!!!? Who knows!) But we will have another , and welcome one and all!

Guam sounds like fun for a summit, but I'm afraid it might be limited to you and Lou.

I include it only because it is the LEAST likey place that we will be sent....well third least. PH and London are the LEAST likely (and MOST desirable for us). Right now it looks like South Eastern Illinois (near St. Louis Mo.--Scott AFB). But we will see. We have ALMOST never wound up at the place we were originally ordered too.

Keep jinxing it, you'll wind up in Alaska.

Nope. But Andre decided to inflict upon Yuri a song that he wouldn't be able to "get out of his head". Apparently it worked!

Thanks for reminding me!!!!

No chance of that. Not much Navy there, nor any Jobs for Lou. Anchorage would be pretty cool though.

Greetings from Shamrock, TX.....such as it is.

Greetings from Minnesota, Comrade Red Mouse. It was a pleasure to make your and your wife's acquaintance at Steve and Lou's. Hope your travel is safe and 'enjoyable' (as much as any 3000 mile trip can be 'enjoyable'...). If I ever find myself in Cali, you can bet I'll look you up.

ETA: Wasn't Lou's cooking the bomb?

Likewise here Señor Pollo. WU and I had a blast. Our biggest regret is that we were so done in by the drive that we petered out early.

Lou's cooking is the absolute bomb! I was dreaming of that mushroom soup the whole next day.

I hope they were good dreams? We really enjoyed meeting you and your delightful spouse! And look forward to our next summit!

Extremely good! That soup was a masterpiece!

Lou says "recipe available upon request".

As for the rest of you lot: I found myself a new love this week. Her name is .30 M1 carbine. Sigh...

...and is 70 years old. You are one sad individual!!!

But she's still a petite thing with lovely lines. I'm more fond of her Teutonic cousin.
Which if memory serves me correctly , kicks like the proverbial mule!

Well, it is German. Have you seen their...ummm.....health films?

Errr, no. And no thanks!

Bison! Never!

Bison is great! I eat it at least twice a week!

Roadkill?

You've ridden in my car. Can you envision running down buffalo in that? I'd probably go clean under them! And if I ever did, I'd really , really make them quite cross!

I still intend to spend 3 weeks or so flying to Seattle and then driving up to the start of the Alaska Highway and cruising all the way up to Fairbanks and Denali. I do love a good road trip!

Completing that trip will leave only Hawaii on my "not yet visited" list of US states.

Will you join us three in Raleigh?

What are you doing in that neck of the woods? You should be on the West Coast.

Offer me a place to sleep like Mike does, and I'm appy to log some tree with you

What? Seattle airfare is cheaper than Omaha?

It actually is. As more people want to see Seattle, there's more competition

Mini NC Summit scheduled for next week as Torsten will be here by then and Andy will be in town for a "one night only" engagement.

Dammit. Wish I could join you....but I've had enough traveling for the time being.

Yeah! Would've been great, especially as your one month of prohibition should be over by now

Goodness, that's a long flight! I know Southwest has a maddening 'hub and spoke' model with counterintuitive routes of travel, but this is ridiculous!

Alaska and Rhode Island here. Been to Hawaii any number of times. Awesome 'must do' final list, USS Mike!

shanilec and I started a Combat Series PBEM last night.

A short East Front Scenario. I am actually pretty excited about this, as I haven't played it in over a year. When I was younger, I used to play it for hours with my brothers.

Hope everyone is enjoying their start to the day.

Chilly here, but not as chilly as it was this weekend.

How close do you think this thread might be to qualification for a mention in the Guinness Book of Records?

Considering this is the 3rd or 4th AE Edition of THE THREAD!!!, (we cap it and start a new one after hitting 1000 pages) and there were I believe 3 editions for the Vanilla WitP forum, we could probably make a pretty good showing.
