So, do we have ze Germans' underseabooten to thank for this iteration of the Bounty's sinking?

http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/tall-ship-hms-bounty-sinks-off-nc-coast-two-still-missing/2012/10/29/d276daf8-21d8-11e2-8448-81b1ce7d6978_story.html

ETA: What the heck were those guys doing within 1000 miles of this storm?

My guess is, that they wanted to ride the storm instead of leaving the ship in the harbour where it might be pushed against the peer and think.

It got caught in transit from the NE area to it's next scheduled appearance in Florida.

Yeah, but it left Connecticut. You'd think they'd hear about the mother of all storms and either: 1. Return to Connecticut STAT or 2. Put in somewhere else on an emergency basis. Anything would be preferable to 3. Running into the teeth of a hurricane in a sailing ship.

I couldn't agree more. I bet the Coast Guard and insurance company will have a few questions for the Captain.

Arrgh! Could'a been a Kraken! After all, this ship *did* take part in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise.

If the ship were pushed against one of its peers (the Constitution?) would you think differently about the situation?

Well, as stupid americans don't like to think, riding a storm seems to be the measure of choice to prevent this!

No Vikings on Sunday so nothing could possibly go wrong.
Sioux hockey this weekend against Anchorage again. A win Friday 4-1. And and exciting overtime. Pulled the goalie with 1:14 left in the third. And scored with 1:08 remaining from the blueline near the boards. And several chance in overtime to put it away. But it was not to be, 3-3. Still great fun.

So Andre heard the Gophers tied with some high schoolers.

Work is keeping me busy today. I'm looking at 15 hours. Its all fair game when you work from home and the OT money would be very welcome.

Northport Harbor, NY where we went kayaking last summer. For reference, that gazebo is on top of a peer which is about 5-6 feet above the water at high tide. The bench is on a bluff of sorts overlooking the bay. Its at least a good 10 feet to the water under usual circumstances.

It's hard work, keeping all my Thread Brothers in line, but somebody has to do it.

Sounds like Torsten will have a chance to visit with John on his Florida/Alabama trip. Now, we just need to get that lazy JWE bastard to visit NC. I do understand he has his mom to care for, but that Army puke still owes me dinner!

Go Navy! Beat Army!

Yeah, we moved to #5. NCAA showed mercy on the Goph's keeping them at #2 for the tie with the under 18 development team. Must be a math thing. Sioux has Boston U. this weekend. Hope your Goph's are not up against White Bear Lake or Bloomington-Jefferson this weekend. Oh, the horror.
