Time for an update on my AOR.

Burma
Weather has been bad for the past couple of weeks (Thunderstorms), so no air action. Japanese have taken Buma and are not advancing into Burma. Currently have an Armored Regt as a picket SE of Prome and a force at Toungoo, with the remainder of the forces hammered at Rangoon moving back north to recover at Shwebo.

Jap CVs, SAG, AOs w/ an invasion force moving up the west coast of the Malay Peninsula. Objectives could be Port Blair or Chittagong. Have a force with the two Bdes of the 17th Div at Dimapur that can be diverted to defend Chittagong. Will evaulate after next turn as it wmay become clearer where they are going. The British Naval force near Port Blair are withdrawing to Columbo.

DEI
Quiet other than operations in Southern Sumatra. After they took Praboemoelih, looks like they will mop up the rest of the resistance quickly. I cannot reinforce (nor want to) and can only evacuate key HQs like ABDA. The 224th RAF should complete thier evacuation this turn, and the Mariner Bn at Oosthaven should finish being moved to the Cocos Islands in the next few turns. Have a number of B-17 squadrons preparing for Ops at Batavia next turn.

India
Defense preparations continue at Ranchi (AF and forts), Rangpur(forts), Tezpur(forts) and Calcutta(forts). Light an significant AV with the only Divisions being the 18th Brit Div at Bombay which is currently training/receiving replacements at Bombay currently. The next Australian Div to arrive at Aden is slated for India as the other Aussie Div is enroute to Australia.

Australia
Established a defense at Alice Springs of a couple Cav Regts and a Tank Attack Regt. Don't expect a full blown drive there, but enough to augment the forces already in NW Australia if driven back that far. Improving the AF (currently at 2) to improve ability to operate B-17s there. They are currently harassing the Jap Armored Regts pursuing the remnants of the retreating Darwin garrison near Daly Waters.

Looks like a bombardment group is enroute to ht PM. Evacuated the shipping there and moved 39th PS (21 P-39s) to Townsville as a precaution as there is no need to needlessly lose airframes. An Aussie SAG was moved to be 8 hexes away and ready to intercept, but they refueled so don't have enough ops points to intercept :(. Need to be watch the refuel status, as the short legged La Triomphant is the main culprit of causing the refuel.

CONUS:

SS Haddock sent to canal zone. LCDR Taylor left in command as he has sufficient Naval/Agress in the high 70s to stay there.

2nd Marine Raider Bn sent from San Diego to San Francisco for deployment. Just need a destination set.

8th PS and 8th PS Det set to train at March Field with the usual filling out of pilots, set to train 100, range 0.

175th BF, 2nd USMC FA, and 428th Cst AA loaded up for Luganville.

Panama:

TF40 (APD, AV, AK, 15 xAKs) sent to LA.

CV Hornet transiting the canal, she will be ready to leave Balboa in three days when a DD gets there to escort her and CL Nashville. Where do we want her to go?

NOPAC:

Nothing new.

CHINA:

Nothing new. Limited supply is keeping the AVG sqn at Sian from using drop tanks, so their range is reduced.

SOPAC:

TF179 at Townsville is still unloading, looks like one more day and we can reload he for PM. Maybe the TF at Terapo will be gone by then and we can sneak her in.

GENERAL NOTES:

xAP Dominion Monarch is past due for withdrawal and is in TF115 bound for Aden. She is costing us 20PP a day for 180PP so far. Do we need her right now or can we release her?

xAP Queen Elizabeth is due to withdraw in 67 days. I don�t expect her to be used during that time as we have enough lift for the units we are expecting from CONUS during this time period. But, we don�t get any extra PP to withdraw her early. So, I will sit on her for now and see what happens.

SOVIET:

More pilots graduated from flight school, so I filled out more trainees into squadrons for more training. It is going to take a few more months before squadrons are full of pilots.

247th Rife Bde arrived at Voroshilov and is set to rest and receive replacements.

CONUS:

Released 32 P38s using both P43s and P39Ds in Eastern USA. The airframes should be available shortly to make our �flying circus� of P38s.

CENTPAC:

Two experienced NavS pilots added to 5th BG/72nd BS at Pearl Harbor for naval search duties. One was lost this last turn due to a landing accident. This unit is two planes short with none in the pool; need to keep an eye on the B-18A airframes.

Split TF 316 into two TFs, one with troop transports and fast AKs to go to SF for troop movements, the rest, and the slow xAKs will continue onto LA for use as general cargo ships. The transport TF will speed up to 4 and be in SF in 9 days, while the other TF will continue at speed 3 and be in LA in just over 13 days.

SOPAC:

Coastwatcher reports have the Japanese TFs moving west of Horn Is. So, TF179 is changed to Amphib and loading the now combat formation 114 USAF BF for movement to PM. Give it a day or two to start moving and we can send the carriers over to escort it up.

TF216 split off of TF99 bound for Suva with the 135th BF.

ANZAC:

Adjusted repairs of the three CAs in Sydney to maximize repair capability. They are due out in 4, 11, and 21 days. All the upgraded DDs are due out in 9 days.

Adjusted TF at Sydney that is unloading supplies to return to LA when done.

CHINA:

Sending 27 medium bombers to ground attack the Japanese lead unit going up the road to Sian from Loyang. This will do two things, the first being it will take it out of move mode and put it in combat mode, slowing it down. The second is that he will now have to assign LRCAP to their units, again, tying up assets in China! Hehe�

Oh, also, it will give the Loyang units another day to get towards Sian faster than the Japanese. The Pilots have good skills, but the aircraft are not the best. We will see what they can do. Will be escorting them with the AVG, also.

I'm pretty bad (or really good

) at having ships becoming overdue. Nash thanks for reminding me of that issue. That is probably what is screw up my PP's of late. I must look into that when I get home.

Mike,

She just popped on board, as I had put her in a TF routed for Aden without checking about a withdrawl date. I don't really need her and will correct my error and withdraw her ASAP.

Harvey,

No biggie. Just trying to keep track of some of the little things. That is what logistics is all about, right? The little things!

I know our PPs are precious right now and losing 20 a turn was something I thought we all needed to be aware of.

CONUS:

1/198 Coast AA Bn is at San Francisco, its other part of the whole Bn will come in at Bora Bora. I don�t think we will need this unit at Christmas Is. I am thinking of sending it to Bora Bora to make a whole unit. What is your opinion?

208th Coast AA Rgt is at San Francisco. I am thinking it needs to start planning for either Noumea or Luganville.

NOPAC:

DD Dent has worked the dents out at Dutch from the failed recon in force at Attu. In 11 days her two sisters will be ready to help her escort the Crosby which had considerably more dents put in her (Sys 63) to Seattle for further repairs.

TF 361 has arrived at Dutch with the 203rd Cst AA Rgt, docked and unloading. When done she will return to Seattle for the next unit for Dutch.

CHINA:

Defensive units arriving at designated locations.

AVG 1st Sqn has enough supplies for drop tanks, should make them more responsive around Sian this next turn.

CANAL ZONE:

Nothing new. DD escorts for Hornet arrive in three days. Jeff, where do we want her to go? She will have a CL and 2xDD with her when she comes out.

CENTPAC:

We may want to try to send a xAKL with supplies to Wake. There is no detection level on the Island, so it sounds like it is not being watched. Starting one that way approaching from the NE to limit detection. It will have 1700 supplies on it. Should help the Marines on the island and keep the 4 Catalinas flying from there. This will take 16-17 days to just get there and the same coming back.

SOPAC:

Move the SS Cuttlefish at Brisbane to Pier Side repair until the overloaded repair yard is cleared of CL Perth in 11 days, the Cuttlefish will repair much more rapidly.

CVTFs and SCTFs are still hidden from prying eyes. No changes there.

TF 179 continues to load the BF for PM from Townsville.

PHILLIPINES:

Supplies have run out at Manila and Clark. Only 8000 at Battaan. Won�t be long.

Not much going on...

13 FEB 42

CONUS:

TF400 loaded with 11900 supplies at Seattle, en route to Dutch Harbor.

1st/102nd Inf Bn is waiting at San Fran for the part of the rgt to arrive from the canal zone in LA when it will then move to San Fran to then load up in one TF for Bora Bora where the third unit will be to either use them as separate units or combine them into the parent unit for more punch if needed.

CANAL ZONE:

TF 369 formed from the three xAKs, an APD, and the Brian. Waiting on more xAKs to arrive over the next two weeks (upwards of a dozen more) to ferry them to LA for use there.

NOPAC:

Nothing new to report here.

CENTPAC:

Langley has picked up 13 more flot and is now at 62! She has slowed to one hex a day and now is two weeks from Midway. She may not make it.

SOPAC:
Nothing new to report here.

ANZAC:

Nothing new to report here.

CHINA:

Changed up my ground attacks a little from the A-29s. They are not doing much damage, but should be causing the troops going to Sian to drop out of move mode and make our opponents curse a little. :D

Changed 2nd Sqn/AVG to CAP 60 to meet the next sweeps en force.

RUSSIA:

Nothing new to report here.

Couldn't you strat. move the 1/102nd Inf Bn to Los Angeles and load up there then go to Bora Bora? Might be quicker and shorten the sailing time.

I am using San Francisco as my troop/air group disembarking point and LA as my supply/fuel point. Helps keep things separate. May have to change that in the future, but that is what I am doing now.

Intelligence (Mike) has reported the following to Harvey and I following the replay.

"4th/A Division is planning for an attack on Noumea. (We knew this already, but it is nice to have confirmation!)

4/1st Division is loaded on a Aden Cargo class xAK moving to Fusan. (1st Division is a Manchurian division with lots of experience and is normally spread around. This means they have put the division together and bought it out)

16th Army is loaded on a Japanese xAK moving to Darwin. (Self explanatory)" from Mike

Good thing the Americal is ashore for the most part, and will be fully ashore before they arrive.
We do have three USN CVs in the area, with one refitting in Auz, and did upgrade her Buffs to Wildcats. We have numerous USN/RAN cruisers and DDs in the area to oppose this landing if they don't escort it heavily. Their invasions to date have been very well executed, unloaded fast, and very heavily escorted by sea and air. Hoping we have an opportunity to give them a bloody nose. Getting the Americal there when we did was an excellent choice, and I feel good about holding that area and protecting our link to Auz from PH and WC.

Weather cleared this turn. Making a maximum effort on Pegu this turn. 1sqdn AVG and 2 sqns of Huuricnes sweeping, with a squadron escorting bombers to hit the GF at Pegu. Japanese invasion of Port Blair seemingly robust and fuly supported. I did kind of present the idea that it was more than an airborne invasion can handle, and am glad at this point I did not commit an Indian Bde there.

Looks like a Jap CV TF is west of Horn Isalnd heading east . May cause some problems reinforcing PM.

CONUS:

17th BG at Pendleton disbanded. This was the only option for it and it needed to be �removed by 15 Feb, 1942 P�. Stripped pilots first and the B-25Bs not going to the pools is not a big deal in the long run. We will have to watch for opportunities to pull some of these half trained pilots into other training squadrons later to complete their training.

Same thing done with 12thBG/94th RS at Tacoma, except we could disband this one as it is returning later.

Pulled a PC and the AP Barrnett out of the TF that just arrived back in LA. This is going to San Francisco for use there.

The TKs that just arrived at LA are docked and filling with fuel for a trip back to Sydney. It will have 113,580 fuel on it. The two xAKs were put in the port for use in a cargo TF.

S-44 arrives at San Diego. Since the S boats torps work we are giving her our best available commander for submarines at this time, J. Ginder, LCDR, USN (3 PP). We are sending her to Pago Pago which is at the limit of her endurance. We can then figure out where to put her to use then.

CANAL ZONE:

APD sent from Cristobal to Balboa and disbanded there.

DDs Cushing and Smith assigned to TF 254 (Hornet), who along with CL Nashville are being sent to Pago Pago for reassignment into the SOPAC area as needed. This will take 14-18 days.

We need to remember to replace the Helldivers and Devastators on the Hornet when she gets to where it can be done. We have plenty of SBD-3�s to do this at this time. Avengers will be coming online shortly.

2xAPD and a 16kt xAK are loading the F Det SUN Port Svc and will be en-route to Pearl Harbor.

The other DD and the rest of the current xAKs will be departing for LA for assignment there.

NOPAC:

Another 11k supplies on the way to Dutch Harbor

CENTPAC:

Another 12k supplies on the way to Christmas Is.

SOPAC:

Moving CVs to cover Amphib for PM. Right now, it looks like a baby KB that is close. We shall see where it goes based on this. We need the BF on PM to help with the defense.

Moved subs from the PM area to the Horn straights to cover better. If they come through, maybe an S boat will catch one or a Gato gets lucky with a Mk14.

Americal Division is slowly unloading at Noumea. Most of the assault units are there, a lot of support is still unloading. It will take time. The TF with �PT Boats� on it is five days out. It will create PT Boats when it gets there.

I am moving the AGP from Pago Pago to Noumea to support the PT Boats that will soon be based there. The PC Reliance will be escorting. Should have sent it with the xAKs!

We are gearing up for some kind of conflict in the next 30 days or so. The Japanese will lose their invasion bonus after

ANZAC:

No changes here.

CHINA:

2nd Sqn/AVG is moved to Chungking for some R&R and rebuilding. They have only 8 air frames left and a morale of 45. They are pretty much useless at Changsha and would just be losing more air frames for little or no return. They will wait here until we can move them to India to upgrade them.

Set a few units to move around or stay put to solidify the line in good cover all across the front. It is a waiting game for the Chinese. Preserve and build up strength. It costs the Japanese men and material to attack in this area. The Chinese have more men and the Japanese have to ship in the material when they are expanding elsewhere and need those supplies elsewhere. Time is on our side, here.

RUSSIA:

No changes here.

TF sent to San Francisco yesterday is going back to LA, missed a new xAP that arrived there today. Going to escort both to San Francisco instead of just one.

CANAL ZONE:

APD Colhoun arrives in Cristibol, sending through canal zone to Balboa to join her sisters.

xAK Admiral Way arrives in Balboa. She will stay here until a larger number arrive for the trip to LA for further assignment.

NOPAC:

Nothing to do here.

CENTPAC:

Langley is just a couple of days from Midway.

SOPAC:

No sign of Japanese carriers and the BF is mostly unloaded at PM. It will be heading back to Townsville when done. There will be more units to shuttle to PM there by then. The TF does have 2/2 detection. So they know it is there. Need to keep the LRCAP over it The carriers remain undetected, even though they have found a sub nearby. Maybe we need to build an ASW TF to have the carriers follow wherever they go?

ANZAC:

Nothing new here.

CHINA:

The Japanese plastered the airfield at Changsha. Good thing we move the 2nd Sqn/AVG!

SS Trigger is available at Mare Is. LCDR Lewis pitiful (32 Agress), replaced him with CDR Welch (60 Naval/77 Agress). Sent her and her new captain to Pearl Harbor.

Setting up an amphib TF at Pearl to carry the 161st Rgt to Koumac This will be a speed 4 TF and will get there in 23 days. Maybe too late, but you never know. Needed to split off a cargo ship from the TF going by to Sydney. Sent it through the islands to avoid subs and it will join up in a day and a half.

SOPAC:

Americal Div is slowly unloading its larger pieces. 134th BF is there also. Soon we will be able to start flying aircraft from Noumea. And the PT transports will be there tomorrow.

ANZAC:

Lexington will be ready to assemble her TF in three days with new increased AAA capability.

CHINA:

Realized all my �E� equipped units at Chungking were on rest. Explained why the Airfield there was not expanding! Fixed that. This will allow us to upgrade the AVG unit there to P40s in the near future.

CONUS:

Mixed fleet arrived in LA. This had an AO that was hit by a Japanese Torpedo near Pago Pago. It made it back to LA and is in the shipyard to be repaired. The speed 14 tankers have formed a 56,790 fuel TF that is formed, docked and loading for a trip to Sydney. It is a 45 day trip to Sydney.

The speed 16 tanker joined the speed 16 xAKs and starts loading with fuel. They are waiting on another 16kt xAK due into LA in 3 days for their trip to Sydney.

8th PG and 3rd BG loaded up at San Francisco and will be en-route to Sydney. It is 59 days to Sydney.

255th USNBF needs a destination. I am thinking Noumea. We have two days to decide as it will take them that long to pack up.

CANAL ZONE:

SS Haddock arrives at Cristobal, transiting the canal this turn then en-route to Pearl.

NOPAC:

Tanker from Seattle taking another load of Fuel to Dutch.

CENTPAC:

Langley made it to Midway, she is only a couple of minor flot from the total major, so, she is sent on to Pearl with auto disband set so she can go into the repair yard there ASAP. It is a two week trip with several anchorages along the way. If she starts to get bad we can disband her there and run a repair ship out to it to patch her up for her trip to Pearl.

Cargo ship has arrived at Pearl. They are unloading and will be absorbed by Amphip TF to take 161st to Koumac.

SOPAC:

Well, we lost the AGP that was going to Noumea. That sucks.

Enterprise TF is at 5/5 on detection. I think they know she is there! Time to move. I suggest a little more east, but stay within range 7 of the TF at PM. Suggest 98,136 as it will take you far enough east to be out of CV range even with a 9 hex move by them.

PM is overloaded at the AF and will take extra losses.

ANZAC:

Lexington will be ready to assemble her TF in two days with new increased AAA capability.

CHINA:

Taking the Engineer units off of rest worked. They expanded the AF at Chungking by 11% in one day!

RUSSIA:

246th Rifle Bde arrives at Spassk-Dalniy and is put on replacements with rest.

PM is overloaded but only for a turn, maybe two. Trying to do a quick counter punch after that bloodbath over PM last turn (brouht in 2xsquadrons of B-17s to hit Madang).

My thoughts exactly. My guess he will sweep again or rest his fighters, so figured it was a good risk to hit Madang. Only issue is I don't have good recon on it.

It will be nice when we get some good air recon assets into SWPAC's area, really makes the bombing that much more efective.

CONUS:

30th Coast AA arrives in Tacoma, North Pacific HQ, set for Dutch and set to strat to Seattle to load on a transport TF that will arrive shortly. This will push Dutch�s F15 to F20.

TF46 is loading up 1/198th Coast AA, 1st/102nd Inf Bn, and 2nd Marine Raider Bn. It will go to Christmas Island and unload 1st/102nd, then on to Bora Bora where it will unload 1/198th Coast AA, merge it with the 2/198th Coast AA, reload the unit and deposit it and the 2nd Marine Raiders at Noumea.

CANAL ZONE:

SS Haddock arrives at Balboa, finishes transiting the canal this turn and is en-route to Pearl.

Two xAKs arrive at Cristobal, on to Balboa with them.

NOPAC:

Nothing to do here.

CENTPAC:

161st loading at Pearl for a trip to Koumac via a location SE of Enderbury Island.

SOPAC:

TF120 arrives at Pago Pago with a butt-load of supplies and fuel. The TF will need to be split up to dock ships to unload quicker. Fuel first, then cargo.

Americal Div is slowly unloading its larger pieces. 134th BF is done, just supplies left to unload there, although it only has 16V. There is 90 more V two weeks out. Soon we will be able to start flying aircraft from Noumea.

Changed Noumea to SW Pacific command (40PPs). We can now create PT boats there. One squadron created. This will be a great deterrent to any landings in this region!

TF179 is ordered to stop unloading at PM and get underway immediately to Townsville. They only had 817 supplies left to unload, but were at 9/9 detection. Betty bait!

PM has almost 100E, we may want to start expanding the airfield there, especially if we think we can keep it.

ANZAC:

Lexington will be ready to assemble her TF in one day with new increased AAA capability.

CHINA:

Taking the Engineer units off of rest worked. They expanded the AF at Chungking by 11% in one day again, up to 22%! I am excited! ;) 28 days to a level 7 AF!

Taking some of the low attack value units and trying to slip them in behind the Japanese lines. Not sure how well this will work. If I lose them they will just come back 30 days later at a much stronger unit. This has worked for others, why not us?
