Torsten, I remember my first night in Alabama in the 1980's - I took a shower and giant 3 inch (I kid you not ) cockroach fell from the curtain into shower...

That would have been one of the Southern USA's finest, the Palmetto bug.

Cockroaches don't bite, they are just disgusting. So are those ****ing ****bugs!

Whatever you do, don't think about how they're probably crawling over your toothbrush right now. Your German sensibilities might result in your spontaneous combustion.

I simply put my toothbrush into alcohol before using it. I do that always, so there isn't any problem! I even have a special bavarian toothbrush-creme with 30% alcohol and the tast of beer!

I highly recommend Lincoln for anyone interested in seeing it. Not that anyone reads these posts, but its worth a shot.

doesn't really make sense, I have 800 miles to drive that day.

800 miles a tough drive and you probably wont make it in a day. Where is the next stop.

A bug is a bug. See a palmetto bug and that's it, a bug. See a cockroach and you can be sure there are more.

Either way, thank you for telling me why we moved to CA instead of NC or GA.

WU and I saw it last night and thought it was an awesome movie. I'm not a huge Civil War buff, but I think that given Ms. Goodwin's involvement, it is probably extremely true to history. The one thing I'm pretty sure they "hollywoodized" was the drama surrounding the vote. I'm guessing that they knew who was going to vote how before they actually voted that morning.

Yup. He's probably not joking about the alcohol 'pre-rinse' step or the 60 proof toothpaste either. Torsten: do you use some sort of alcohol-based rinse after the brushing too?

And NYC has bedbugs. Lets face it, the insects outnumber us by a very wide margin and are absolutely everywhere. In LI we had a problem with spiders and crickets.

At least in SoCal the insectoid wildlife seem to have the discretion to stay out of sight most of the time.

It not just NYC with bedbugs. The deep south is freakin' loaded with 'em in their enclosed animal operations too [shudders].

You want to get 'creeped out'? Watch them 'migrate' between poultry houses-a veritable carpet of the little bastards.

They are susceptible to a variety of insecticides, but the hard part is getting the insecticides onto them. They can be elusive little bastards.

So, on the poultry house front, the moral of the story is to fog the **** out of the house immediately after removing birds. Traditional 'down time' between flocks just allows 'em a chance to migrate.

But dont you generally get "leakers" which are already on the birds?
