Something for John...

This is "Prana" - the most beautiful yacht I have ever seen with my own eyes... I took the pictures with my iPhone at night (hence not so good quality)...

If I am not mistaken 1 week on her costs 250.000 $ (yep two hundred and fifty thousands US dollars )...

51.70 m (170 ft)
New Zealand Alloy Yachts
Dubois Naval Architects
2006

Wow. 51.7m and single mast. Wow. Back in the day, that would have been 3 masts ....

I think a lot of it is ‘my winkie is bigger’. I, too, would have liked to see it as a schooner-type, with full-batten, America’s Cup-style high batten, square top, sails. What they got now is just too tall for a luxury yacht. The mast is well into the 30 meter line and although there is better breeze up there, there’s not enough useable sail area on a Marconi rigged sloop to do anything but make ya tippy. And the keel moments aren’t deep enough to compensate.

Admittedly, the Marconi points higher, but you need a crew that knows what it’s doing and people don’t seriously race these things either. A schooner-type would actually give ya more useable sail area, be less tippy, and work better with the semi shoal draft keel. And the sticks would be lower aspect, and less prone to cracking and breaking in a blow. Put a schooner rig on that puppy and she’ll rape your lizard on any point of sail except hard on the nose (and luxury passengers aren’t into that degree of excitement, anyway).

Maybe one day some gazillionaire will kick my butt out of retirement and say “Ok, bigmouth, show me what you got. whip it, but whip it good.” I can do up the Dubois profile with my ideas of rig and keel, if anyone’s interested (and has a gazillionaire friend that wants to take a chance).

Btw, did you know that 175’ is the length between perps of the USS Constitution?

But it looks magnificent John...

Leo "Apollo11"

She does indeed look magnificent !!

I'm just cursed with whenever I see a boat I try to think of ways to make it go faster. Here's what she looked like inside, back when she was Konkordia.
Master suite, one of four guest suites, main salon, and cockpit. The bar in the corner was Carrara marble. Woof !!

Hey, there's five staterooms. That's only $50,000 apiece ... we could cut cards to see who gets the master suite ...

Hey, Sprior, or Dixie, or Warspite, have a conundrum. This morning, our CBS News vaporing vaginas reported, on good authority, that young Katie's braw wee bairn is to be named either John or Louis.

Now don't get me wrong, I like the name John, and John Windsor has a certain Bondish, je ne sais quoi, insouciance. But don't you think that Lords would get a bit harumphy over King John II? Do they have a vote on this? Did they ever find any of the treasure John I lost in the Severn wash?

Louis is ok (what with Lord Louie, and all), but a bit overdone. There's been XVIII Louies so far, but I recollect they've all been French. If there's an English Louie, it will utterly screw up the whole Google/Wikipedia search thing and require a disambiguation screen. Not goodnik for the Royals.

If they are going to ignore tradition, how about Ethelred? He (assuming it's a he) could be styled Ethelred the Uncomfortable, or Ethelred the Unchanged (lately).

What's the betting line over there say? I have something on Richard.

Ciao. John

One of my favorite news pieces. She's blonde, stupid and a bank robber. What's better than that? Why, bragging about it on YouTube, of course!

http://www.military.com/video/law-enforcement/police/girl-brags-about-robbery-on-youtube/2013908034001/

Note: The signs she holds up to the screen are backwards to the camera too. Honestly, you can't make this stuff up!

Not eighteen, John. If you count those that reigned, you have to remove XVII. And if you add XVII because he might have reigned, then you need to add XIX, who almost reigned, too...

Well, unless you add Louis-Philippe, who was an extended Louis, after all. But he was an Orleans, son of Philippe Egalité, who did his utmost to make XVI the last one, and so counting him in seems strange, no? And then, if you add him in, you'd need to add Clovis and his bunch. Kings of France were named Louis and Charles because of Clovis and Charlemagne...

And then, you got a handful of german princes that went by the name, and a couple spanish kings, too.
I hate history, it is so complicated.

Anyway, I believe Louis is off, because "Louis Windsor" sounds a bit strange to pronounce (wee wee), but then John Windsor doesn't sound nice either. As this is mostly a media and tabloid thing, I'd go for Bilbo: Bilbo Windsor sounds just perfect, and Bilbo the First, King of England sounds like the perfect title for a late 21st century monarch. Well, in my French, and therefore naturally Anglophile, mind, of course.

Hey, hey, hey, just a minute, there, Francois, ole buddy. John was Jesus' brother after all.

Bilbo's cool, I like Bilbo, but I'm plumping for Beaudy. Beaudy the Wonder Dog who ends up getting five pounds of shrimp by peeing on the Captain's boots. If that darling Lady, Elizabeth, ever visits Alabama, Beaudy will probably break through the secuirty line and widdle on her shoe, and get an OBE. Oh, yeah, can you imagine, Sir Beaudy, the Wonder Dog. Woof !!

Oh, John's a great first name, John. Actually, that's my fathers first name, and my son's third {ducks, covers, and all that}.

It's just that John doesn't match Windsor, doesn't sound right John Windsor. Could be worse, though. They might choose Wystan, Wystan Windsor, anyone? Yet Wystan is Auden's given name, not at good as Jesus brother, but close...

That's the point, I suppose, you're blessed with a first name, but cursed with a family name, which you need to match. I loved Charles as a name, but Charles Charton, seriously? On the other hand, Marcel Charton sounds perfect, but I never could decide the mother (Marcel sounds terribly outmoded here)...

Now, Marcel Windsor... Not as daring as Bilbo, but...

Hmm, you're trying to get your dog knighted. That's another way of thinking about it. Nobility is hard to get in our republican countries...

We have a hen named Robert (yeah, I know, it is a rooster name, but then our cat, a male, is named Chantal, definitely girly), may be I should go for Robert. My current hopes of nobility involve two generations of a tough exam and a very old decree from Napoleon the third which still escaped the legislator... Robert might be a good idea.

I wouldn't bet on Beaudy, sounds a bit too French for that nation of shopkeepers. Robert, on the other hand, is scottish enough... (William, Kate, if you're reading this...)

Ha! Then I'll get a free pass on the Eurostar, and we shall we meet before the Imperial War museum (seems fitting enough, and close to Waterloo station, near Blackfriars too). You won't have trouble noticing me: I will probably be the only one with a hen on a leash...

(here's a pic of Robert's sister, my daughter named her Prunette, but make no mistake, that black uniforme, with golden braids, her true name is Tojo, and she's the evil twin sister of Robert the knight)

Good morning- Winter storm alert for this weekend in my area. Fairly excited as we need moisture badly.

Talked with Schanilec last night for some time. He's hangin' in there and hoping something falls into place. He was in pretty good spirits as usual though.

He wanted me to tell you that he misses you "bastards", and that his Vikes could beat your Boys any day CB.

Peace out.

Morning tithe. The Britishers have gone quiet again. Either theyre pretending that they havent received the turn or theyre waiting for the historical start date to launch their dastardly attack.
