My faith in the accuracy of the stats displays has been shaken a bit. I've tried to add up some numbers and have failed miserably. Maybe there is an easy explanation for the discrepancies I've encountered and maybe alzheimer is already ahead of my number crunching capacities, but maybe it's worth a bug report.

Let's take an example which shouldn't be distorted by fog of war: My levelbombers. After all I do expect that my Luftwaffe staff is up to date with losses and planes in flying condition. But somehow I can't explain how on earth they come up with the count they present to me.

My case, or rather my confusion and my hope for useful input:

I think Ju-52's count as level bombers and if you include their replacements, it should all add up.

Hmm...maybe not, if you add in the 7 steps of transports....it would be too much.

Did you try and see if the number in stats actually applies to what is on the map?

Did you check the stat page for the individual types and add them up? (he-111, Do-17, Ju-88)?

Okay..for fun, I looked at my level bombers. 530.

I looked at the Ju88's: 205
He111's: 285

Add them up: 490.

But when I count up the KG's individually, I have 8 at strength 7, and 7 at strength 6. Adds up to 490 bombers. OKH has none.

Aha! I look at the Italian air force and the Caprone 311's are level bombers. 25 more to add. But I am still short with on map planes being 515.
A quick look at Ju-52's shows them as levelbombers as well.... so add 15 to bring the total to 530

On Map: 530 equals Stats: 530.

Thanks for your quick research. I'll check the numbers including Ju52 when I download my next pbem turn, though I do think I tried to include them in the count and it still didn't add up.

Very busy weekend, I'll post what I find when I find enough time to do a full chaos turn (all Bonners fault for escalating my turn processing time ).

Okay, adding Ju52 to the levelbomber count solved the mistery. It's a bit counter-intuitive as transport planes don't really belong into a figure which should let you decide if your bombing campaign is sustainable or not.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

I don't mind too much that Ju-52's are added to the levelbomber stat, as you can still look at the planes (or types) individually. Even the infantry (by nationality) so I can see how many Germans exactly I am losing.
