Hi all,

quote:

ORIGINAL: Symon

Howdy,

Have a new mission from God. Mom has three prescription meds that the local CVS pharmacy has been charging her about $46.00 a month for. Never thought much about it, since it's an insurance thing and CVS has computers and they are a National Brand, and what the hey!

But then my local CVS had an internal personnel train wreck, so I took Moms prescriptions over to my local Winn Dixie pharmacy. The refil time came and imagine my shock and surprise when the price, with tax, was $28.56. I knew there must be some mistake, so I told the pharmacist what I had been paying and asked him to verify the price. He spent some time on his 'puter and came back with " .. no, this is the price after your insurance coverage'.

Damn, think I, is CVSs 'puter not up to snuff? So I go to CVS and talk to the manager and get blown off big time. Like 'you know nothing, and just who the heck you think you are anyway?' Okey dokey. I call a couple of plaintiff lawyers I knew from from my Cali days, and Hootz Gazooties, it looke like I'm going to gonna get some major sugar in my offshore account, and someone else is gonna get some big time eggs and bacon from this action.

I'll let ya know who did what. Ciao JWE

[ed] Yeah, welcome to America, you all.

Nice John!

Morning tithe.

I missed yesterday's discussion on entitlement, so here's my contribution. I really hope the other side of this story makes more sense.

Meh.

I tend to discount these "so and so sues such and such for this or that" headlines. You can sue anyone for anything. Doesn't mean you'll win. Doesn't mean you'll collect real damages.

I recall a number of lawsuits filed by inmates about the quality / character of the jail peanut butter they were being served. One particularly industrious inmate filed some 200+ nuisance lawsuits in a given year. They're in it just to **** with the system and muck things up in the courts.

Only when there is great latitude given to judges to throw out lawsuits out of hand with no legal merits will these be truncated.

Or...you could be like some states to discourage this nonsense-loser pays all court costs. Think crunchy v. creamy peanut butter is worth $30,000 to you if you lose? Unfortunately, it does not appear as though Pennsylvania subscribes to this enlightened means of reducing nuisance lawsuits.

I'm not sure this would really discourage drug dealing....

I don't think that it is meant to discourage drug dealing as much as allay taxpayers fears that the police are wasting their tax dollars.

Personally, I think that one of the worst parts of the "war on drugs" is the allowance of police departments to seize anything owned by drug dealers. What it has meant is that they tend to concentrate solely on drug crimes and ignore many others, claiming that they don't have the resources to cover every crime.

Maybe. I'd say that: Gall, Hutzpah, Nerve, Poor sense of social justice, Self-centered, Spoiled ****ing rotten, In need of a whuppin', 'Helicopter'/spoiling/enabling parents perhaps may also partially explain the rationale for this lunacy.

I'm surprised/impressed that the administration seems to be sticking by the instructor's side of events enough to bring the case to court / trial. Usually, administration folds like a house of cards at anything that smacks of 'infringement' on a student's rights or well-being.

Keep us apprised of the trial. I'm looking forward to her wasting $30,000 of daddy's money and getting nowhere in her putrid lawsuit.

Of course, this doesn't bode well for her gaining admittance into another graduate program. Can you imagine how quickly her application for a 'master's degree in counseling' would get ****canned when the other schools get wind of this?

I'm wondering what daddy is thinking. This sort of nonsense could cause both of them to "lose a career".
