ORIGINAL: jeffk3510 A foot in a half of snow makes me want to shut my face in a car door at work...so difficult in the transportation industry. Mainly it is people not being man enough to drive on dry roads that half the snow already cleared off... Their kids have off of school, so they should have off of work too. Ah, welcome to my world. But what I like is when it is storming.....no traffic. Unless some knucklehead gets stuck in front of me. I grew up in Upstate New York, in the Finger Lakes Region (150 inches, 380cm of snow a year). Usually, with my front wheel drive Dodge Grand Caravan, I can get through up to a foot of snow at a time without difficulty. I do find it amusing that others in the Middle Tennessee area where I live now, panic with a light dusting of snow on the road. Good luck finding anything perishable at any grocery store even though the white stuff will be gone off the roads in one day or less from just the variable temperature around here. We have had some snows that drifted over five feet and lasted for five days or so, that was some difficult times, but it has happened once in 30 years and still counting... I was a fire chief at the time and had a Dodge Ram Charger with a five ton winch on it. I ploughed through those drifts with that truck to deliver generators to medically in need persons in areas without power. Lots of fun and lots of white faces on the nurses in the passenger seat. Ice... Now that is another story... I don't care who you are, Ice doesn't like anyone to be on the road.
