ORIGINAL: bradfordkay Glad to hear that you are getting out some more, Des. Before long you'll be hiking to Edoras... Afraid I'm not into that sort of site-seeing,do like the movies and books though. Just down the road from where we live, is the forest where the house chase in the first movie was filmed. My brother and I used to shot rabbits there when we were kids, wouldn't do it now though, as we would probably shot a happy-camper by mistake. Also most of the mountain scenes in the Lord of the rings movies, were shot within fifty kilometers of here. So you can see why it's really great for me to get to that stump, so I can see those same mountains. That's truly cool, Des. I am glad that you can easily see those - on clear days. I've been a Tolkein fan since I first read The Hobbit at age 13. That early scene in the movie with Frodo and Sam leaving Hobbiton for some reason always reminded me of my best friend from high school and myself. I got him into backpacking, though he was never as adventurous as I - thus when I watch those scenes I always reflect back on those days...
