And the toughies keep on coming

Today we travel to Anfield - the famous home of

Liverpool FC

vs

Tottenham Hotspur

Liverpool have to win to keep alive their Champions League hopes, while we need to win to keep the pressure on Chelsea and Arsenal by increasing the gap to those teams in 4th and 5th place, neither of whom have a Premiership game this weekend.

When I was a young man we hadn't won at Anfield since the Titianic sunk in 1912 - we finally ended that unwanted record in 1985 and certainly in the premiership era our record at Anfield has been a little better if not spectacular (couldn't be much worse! ).

Ho hum...roll on 4pm - nervous tension building already .

Server went down!

Well we ended up 3-0 winners. Which was nice... We are talking Tottenham here so we cannot say the tie is over, but we should now progress to the Quarter-Finals If we can score one in Milan - they will need five.

COYS!!!

You said it!

3-1 to Inter. Still way to much time left for comfort.

COYS!!!

Indeed, that wasn't supposed to happen. But that is what happens when you defend that high up-field and do not put enough pressure on their midfield.

Got the tactics wrong tonight. We played some nice football early doors but when we failed to get an early goal - and with Defoe playing so badly - we should have packed the midfield instead.

Still, we are in the draw at least - lets hope Chelsea don't join us

Mmm - the weekend of sport is not going too well - cricket, rain interupted with the Kiwis on the ropes, Rugby, England demolished by Wales and just 5th for Lewis in the F1.

Right. Can Spurs save my weekend of misery or, after the 7 conceded in the last two games, will they continue leaking goals against Fulham??

Tottenham Hotspur

vs

Fulham

COYS!!!

I doubt that they continue leaking goals. After the game versus Inter I suspect we will see a spirited team that will be aggressive and with a tight defense.

At least you can take comfort in that your team advanced. My team is out of the Swedish cup after conceding 6 goals in two games. Worst of it is that four of the goals were after corners!!!

I just haven't been able to get interested in the Prem this season. It doesn't help that I don't support anyone in the Prem (or Championship, or L1. Or L2 even) but the whole thing has just passed me by really.

Sometimes I think it must be easier to support the likes of Lincoln City than a team like Spurs. Spurs are a club that gives you just enough hope that "next year it will be different" so that when its not and they are rubbish again (or of course threaten to do well before collapsing in a rubbish heap at the end of the season) the pain is all the more keenly felt.

I should be like most Londoners and support Manchester United - or Chelsea "I've always supported them" - yeah - of course you did....not just since Abramovich then?

You're probably better off with Spurs to be honest. At least you've got the possibility of success before throwing it all away. With Lincoln you get to set the bar low and see the team fail to reach even that. Avoiding relegation from the BSP just a couple of seasons after arriving from L2 should not be seen as success, but yet here we are.

It all went to pieces after Keith Alexander left.

They're a top top team with some top players. Except this match is on itv so we get to hear that they've passed the ball and you can't do that at this level. Plussome other cliches and probably some spiel on Wee Mickey's retirement.

Still, £1000 bet on England to win could net you as much as £10 profit.

What I want to know is why have San Marino changed their blue? That's rubbish.... Right I'll have to amend my post now... Have they not seen their flag recently??

San Marino

Vs

England

I hate it when people change things.... like England in that stupid shade of blue for their shorts a couple of years ago or in an all white strip with red trim.... rubbish....... or Spurs doing the same

Goodness! I'm turning into Terminus

Rant over .....and breathe......

Okay and now for the real biggy. A match that if we win should see us in Brazil next year.... but if we lose, then the automatic spot has pretty much gone and suddenly Poland and/or Ukraine are breathing down our necks for 2nd place..

Montenegro

vs

England

Hang onto your hats - watching England is never much fun

Just for info, Italy actually wins 0-2 vs Malta...what a s**t game,
and not because of Malta.

The second classified don't go to play-off? I see the classification,
and there aren't strong teams, except England & France. I don't think
your qualification is a big problem.

a) You assume we will make the play-off - Ukraine and Poland have a game in hand - Ukraine look a real threat.
b) Have you seen some of the potential teams that will finish 2nd?

Portugal. Belgium or Croatia, Spain or France!!!, Sweden, Bulgaria...... Oh dear.....
