JJ will need these services to extricate himself from the tight spot you're putting him in...

*****************Pranning***************

Carriers: The fighter squadrons on the carriers are in pretty good shape although the DD's in the CVE group will need a drink soon after the move at ramming speed yesterday. They will again stay at 9 hex range from the big bases on Luzon to take the Vals out of the equation and avoid attacks on DD's near the coast with a heavy CAP. They will move NW toward the Spratleys. We might run into the LYB carriers but I dont think they will have had time to get to port, refuel, take new replacement aircraft and repair the aircraft yet.

Lucena: Both BB's have all of their magazines > 50% full so they will stay on station. Hobart has 11% system damage from the bomb hit she took so will return to Manado. That leaves a heavy SCTF with 2 fast BBs and 4 DD's, plus a light SCTF with 2 CL's and 2 DD's plus PT boats and ASW groups for security. Lucena is mined as is the ingress route to the NW. 40 fighters operating from the base with ground support now. US armor is on the move to the NW and N. Very large numbers of troops are still offhsore. Some LYB troops on the move to the SE from both Clark and Manira.

One of the CA's from the heroic bombardment taffy took some topside dmage and needs to go back to Manado.

Here is why you don't want TOO much realsim from a naval war game.

SG and I were all excited to do some fishing offshore so we signed on for a 4 hour tour...a four hour tour...on the Drifter, not the Minnow. I know I have a bit of a tendancy toward motion sickness but I am fine if I look at the horizon..so I am standing near the bow as we motor into the waves. Waves are only about 2 feet. The wind and the fog feels good..I am fine. Not so for this poor 8 year old girl curled up on her dad's lap, pale and moaning (the girl not the dad). It isn't long until the purple colored Gatoraide gets spewed over the side of the boat and she is taken below decks, hors de combat with the wounded Nelson. Poor thing.

We get to the "rock pile" (an artificial reef) which is in about 25-30 feet of water. This is where the fish are supposed to be. We drop anchor and the wind is about 90 degrees to the wave direction...plus the shallow water has increased the wave height and shortened the period (I suppose someone will tell me this is not physically possible..the shortened period bit..but it sure seemed like it). The wave height and period have been tuned by Odin to be in perfect harmonic oscillation with the physical properties of the boat so we start rolling like Hell every 2 1/2 seconds. I sense danger...real danger...but I paid $64 for the damn ride so I drop my line. In minutes I care nothing about fishing. If there were a 500 lb grouper on the line I would let him go. I try to find a spot where there are the fewest fisherman.

SG: Why don't you go to the bathroom, you don't look so good.

FAM: Uhhhh...no....can't..make..it....RAAAAAAAAALPH

Now, I knew better than to eat a big breakfast so I just had 2 tiny apple slices. Santa Maria! All that effort for two damn apple slices.

SG: <I'm already on Ralph number 9 or 10> Look out! Chummin' over here!

FAM: <afterward> Did anyone notice?

SG: Uhhhh, yeah. You throw up really loud.

The whole boat caught two lousy croakers and two dogfish sharks. At least I preserved my manhood by being able to take it more than an 8 yr old girl.

No, no, no. It's more like a synchronized period. This certainly has happened in many households with multiple women or sororities. I don't think shortened period has been documented in such surrounds.

The way I see it you are responsible for bringing in the two dogfish sharks, so you get half-credit for each of them.

"Half credit" for a Dogfish shark? What are you, a starving North Korean?

Perhaps FAM *is* deserving of a half credit. Would the viscera (with his improvised chum) be a reasonable settlement for his half?

************************March 29, 1943(c)*****************

Legaspi: A LYB surface force was spotted 2 turns ago E of Luzon, then disappeared..so I sent in a couple of small groups in to unload engineers. Naturally, Atago, a CL and 3 DD's showed up last night..sinking 3 minesweepers, DD Perkins, 4 LCT's and 3 AK's. An APD and a DE were also damaged. It was ugly.

Lucena: Very successful 2nd day of debarcation. A USN sub sank an LYB DD trying to reach Lucena from the NW. One DD did reach Lucena but was reulsed with no decisive action. Val, Betty and Sally raids over Lucena were repulsed with heavy losses to the attackers. This is stalker girl, my husband needs a new hobby

I believe at time of the security failure, the 4th rotor was safely 2500 miles away in the command vehicle.

Editors Note: As today is the tax filing deadline in the US, the board thought it would be a good idea to include a brief tax tip. We hope you enjoy,

Q: How do I avoid the *#$(@*$% AMT (Alterantive Minimum Tax)?

A: Don't be such an idiot! You can't! We recommend not working so &@&#*#&! much and to go out to Happy Hours and such. Also, you might consider playing 4-5 AE turns per day and waste your life that way. Your family will think you an irredeemable geek and shiftless good-for-nothing but you won't be so angry at tax time.

Thought the AMT was largely neutered this year?

It's not neutered, its just not supposed to get any worse based on inflation.

I, your humble civil servant, avoid the AMT simply by not getting paid enough to trigger it.

I forget - what's the proper usage of "its"? Apostrophe or no apostrophe?

"By convention" as I was taught, the possessive "its" has no apostrophe, while the contraction of "it is" to "it's" does have the apostrophe.

Yes, as in "It's annoying that the IRS is so skilled at sucking blood from its American citizen victims."

I forgot that the big January 1 deal dealt with AMT moving forward too. That shouldn't affect the Cap's fun and games for FY 2012.

Yes, as in "It's annoying that the IRS is so skilled at sucking blood from its citizens."

Both in the same sentence!

Note, however, that we are not citizens of the IRS. Even though they think we are.

by the way, i asked NYGiants59 in his AAR to post a grand strategic map (Ctrl-A) of the campaign with a summary. easier for those just tuning in to follow, though i've been reading up on this AAR for a while. Anyway, would be interesting to see and get a grasp on the situation and current choices etc. thanks

Thank God I don't work for those vampires! New York State is waaay more Taxpayer-Friendly!

I couldn't remember which one was which, but I also read somewhere that, since they would always need an apostrophe (possessive or contraction), you really never needed one. Hmmm.

Leehunt27 wants to talk about the war....
