I saw there is 4-6 inches of snow forecast for the Twin Cities.

Laugh it up, dirtbag.

I'm cautiously optimistic that not much of it will stick. Several weather sites have said 'plowable' amounts of snow due today, but I'm choosing to deny all of them.

It's a little cool here (low 60's) but I'm going for a 75 minute bike ride after work.

I suspect he'd have to go pretty slow to go 75 min due east.

What temperature do those exhaust ports get to when running?

I think the technical answer, is f***in' hot, the engines are running on Avgas (basically 100 octane fuel with some additives) which burns fairly hot compared to regular gas. Probably a couple of hundred degrees C, I'll see if I can find out tomorrow for you. A new set was fitted to TE311 before her first runs, on the initial two-three runs they glowed red at times.

Desktop worthy shot, this. Love the angle on the stubs!

If you're desperate for amateur shots of exhausts then I can send you the original file

Des (DivePac88) is coming out of the hospital after a week-long stay. He's on the mend again after a small setback. And his son is coming home for a bit to visit. That's the good news.

He's dropping our game due to his ongoing health issues-a decision I regretfully accept. He's got other real-life priorities that are (as they should be) more important.

Hope he'll pop in from time to time when his treatment and volunteer schedule allow. Peace, Des.

You guys do know that I don't live at the beach, right? LOL It's about a 2 hour drive to get to the closest beaches.

Some payback for you Nanooks, and for my friends in Rochester, MN, who are posting pictures of their 7-10 inch May snowfall... I broke a spoke on my rear wheel during my ride last night.

No snow. Just freaking cold for May. Next time I'll sabotage the chain.

In time for my 40th birthday on the 27th. 40K at 40 would have had a certain tragic symmetry.
