Nice pictures, Sprior. Thanks for sharing.

Dixie is too busy posting pictures of cute little red RAF buses on his facebook page to post RAF pictures here, I guess. Good thing he had an RN mate that could bail him out for important memorial flight pictures, eh?

By the way-a Hurri in chase in the second image?

No time to post pictures when you're doing your first ever Lancaster see in with live tv and a crowd watching! Apparently I managed to get onto the BBC coverage. Finally at home eating microwave pizza on the sofa ready for another full day tomorrow and a weekend in Leeds.

The chase plane is a Spitfire XIX. They wanted the 19s to represent the aircraft that flew over the busted dams to take pictures. Should have been PRIX but there were only a few converted and none surviving. I don't think there are any PRXI left either.

We in this Bank do not understand why you sent these men to come and Collect your Funds on your behalf. If actually you want them to help you Collect your Inheritance Bill Sum,at least you should have informed me as the Executive Governor of this Bank. I'm going to go with my Argletonian colleague on this one. "Noble Bank" is capitalized, as is "Documents", both in mid-sentence. When they're capitalized like that, it's gotta be important and-therefore-legit.

I wasn't at the dam/reservoir. I was at Scampton for the parade, I was hoping to avoid the TV cameras but there were so many of them that it was probably impossible. I've not seen the TV coverage yet, by the time I got home yesterday it was time for some food and off to bed.

Hard work, but I love it. I'm expecting this to be my last posting in the RAF and it's the reason I joined so it's great. It's also good for personal reasons and for what it represents.

It's nothing like my other postings in the RAF, the equipment is totally different, I've had to relearn skills that I had forgotten and learned new ones. Plus the public, or at least a larger part of it, are more interested in what we do. Luckily I'm just an erk so they're usually more interested in talking to the Winged Master Race

I'd have liked to have talked with Les Munro or Johnny Johnson last night, not particularly because of the Dambusters but because every vet has something interesting even when they don't think so themselves. Les Munro has actually said he felt uneasy in taking part as his aircraft was damaged and he had to turn back.

I'm glad I was stood where I was, the band and (especially) the guys by the flag would only have heard the Lanc getting closer and closer and not be able to do anything about it I think she ended up about 6' away from the flag pole, the two Spitfire pilots thought it was close.

We had another moment today that I'll look back on in years to come when OC BBMF asked who wanted to have a look at Gibson's cigarette case. Worth £20k apparently, it's got his initials engraved in it and the serial number of his Lanc as well as the code words for the night (Nigger and Dinghy). Pretty cool I think.

Smuggling Charmin? Too much work. I'll settle for the Powerball win this weekend. $600M. True story: I win, I'll fly all THREAD brothers stateside for a party. At Steve's.

He's only half kidding. Saturday at 5:30pm. Let me know if your coming so I can load more beer and booze in the cooler. Theme is Cold War Victory party, dress (if you choose) is 1962 (think Mad Men) or your favorite character from "DR. Strangelove".

There are three surviving members of the crews who went out on the raid:

Les Munro (pilot)
George 'Johnny' Johnson (bomb aimer)
Fred Sutherland (Rear gunner)

All from different crews iirc.

Yes, it's video-gamey, but it's still pretty cool:

http://www.military.com/video/logistics-and-supplies/naval-equipment/the-long-range-antiship-missile/2387251704001/

Slava class gets it in the neck in the end.  A happy ending.
