ORIGINAL: Schanilec I always have a couple of thousand rounds of ammo around the house. Haven't bought ammo for a few years now. Sheesh, I bet a .30-06 round must cost about $1.50 now. Ding! Now I have to hit Cabela's tonight. .30-06 never got scarce so I don't think it went up much. In fact none of the "Long rifle" stuff (.300,.270, 8mm, etc) went scarce. Hand gun (esp .38 spec,9mm,380 and most of all .22LR ) disappeared completely ,for a long while. And .223/5.56 went scarce , but cme back at a huge price increase. But if you have .22lr or 9mm you can even trade it for gold! Hmmm...I'll have to take a look, but there is oodles of ammo up here. Sounds like I need to drive up there. I'd definately like some 22LR and 9mm. Steve, we have some of the largest ammunition manufacturers in the country about 30 minutes drive from my house. A couple years ago, I used up a couple personal favors and got an extended tour of the factory floor and test facilities too. I've never seen a shortage of ammunition, guns or anything shooting-related here. Yes! By all means drive up. Bring a truck. Stay over, put down a few beers, load up your truck in the morning and return to Nebraska. Ha! Sounds like the times when I was a kid where entrepreneurs would drive from Baltimore down to SC to buy fireworks, and then sell them out of the trunk of their cars the week before Independence Day.
