That bit where you wonder where the KB is, and then it shows up and sinks a bunch of your ships? Priceless!

Last turn I began preparing a relief expedition to Wake. This turn, Wake fell. At least I didn't burn any fuel; none of the ships left Pearl.

What's the date? Similar to RL? I'm often amazed by macro events like this that so shadow RL's timeline.

Where'd you get whacked by KB?

It's 12/27/41.

KB showed up at Rabaul, one turn after I'd sunk one of his (unfortunately empty) invasion convoys, and promptly sank the three Aussie cruisers that had sunk said convoy.

We had very warm 1st of May (temperatures almost +30 degrees Centigrade) but after that it is rain almost every single day and temperatures are just between 15 and 20 degrees centigrade all the time...

Last exam of Freshman year for our son this morning. No more getting up early to drive him (or ride with him while he drives) to school for the summer. Sounds like the stress level might be dropping a bit in our household, right? Wrong! This evening we are signing a contract to list our house for sale and making a contingent offer on another house. Unless things move very quickly, we are looking at an extended period of time where we have to keep the house cleared out and anally clean for it to be shown to prospective buyers. Try that with a teenage boy, 1 dog, and 5 cats living in the house.

Stressful, but very, very exciting!

I can help you with that cat infestation.

Good Morning! Into day 3 of being a bachelor... Have seen pictures of my 14 year old daughter in Paris, she is alive. I don't think Paris will be the same again... Talked to my Wife this morning, they are going to the Smithsonian this morning. She has our 13 year old son with her and he is excited about the Air and Space exhibits he will see today.

Dinner last night was scrambled eggs and sausage with mixed veggies. Low carb, high protein. Just what the doctor ordered. Fed cats, dog, and the leopard gecko (four crickets died). Laundry is done, my minimal dishes are done, house is in good order.

Preparations for Origins next week are going well without any interruptions other than those listed above.

I can't say that hadn't crossed my mind several times...

I wouldn't have the funds to do what he did, but I would have the determination...

A Chinese man in Hong Kong went to his doctor complaining of abdominal pain. Turned out he had a cyst on one of his ovaries.

Sounds like the setup for a joke, but it happened. He's 66 years of age, and the sixth person in the WORLD to be diagnosed with the combination of syndromes that he has. Literally one in a billion.

Thanks, but my familial background is tilemakers and horse traders, so "Viking Dude" doesn't really apply...

Thank you!

I'm a little miffed though ... you knew that it's our national day tomorrow (6th June) but you managed to miss my 50th Birthday on the 3rd ...

Just to clarify - no one needs to feel bad about it. Birthdays have never been a big thing in our family, inluding the so called "big" ones. Actually, I'm more than happy that my friends, colleagues et al. respected my wish not to do some big "surprise" party in my honor.

Otherwise, turning 50 here in Sweden ususally entails having to throw some gigantic party involving everyone from kindergarden to your current colleagues. Managed to avoid that one

Will go to Mallorca in the Mediterranean on Friday for a one week vacation with my parents, sister+family. It might happen that we have some finer dinner there. Just like I want it to be.

I remember overinterpreting your 6/3 birthday last year, wishing you well wishes for your "Birthday" in March. Anyways, a belated Happy Birthday, Viking dude.

... and to be a little more corrective;

It's really flattering that you call me "Viking dude". To be honest, you really should call T that, as the Danes and the Norwegians actually formed the heartland of the Viking territory

ETA; It seems my spelling is a little off tonight. Might be a little overconsumption of Ouzo.
