How come the ships are so blurry when I zoom all the way in? They are not blurry in the maximized selector panel on the bottom left, only on the game screen.

Is there a way to fix this?

for me they become blurry because the game take time to load texture, for fix temporary is move the camera or wait a bit if dont work save, quit game then reload.

This is on a new game and I've tried reloading, restarting and moving the camera around, doesn't fix the issue.
The ships look great in the selection window but on the game map they are super blurry. I can tell it is never loading them at full res because they are blurry even zoomed out. When I look at the .png files they seem fine, so why is the game making them so blurry/low res?

Also here are my computer specs:

System 1:
2600k@4.2GHz
Asus P8Z68-V Pro
EVGA GTX TITAN
G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB)
Asus VE276Q 27
SB X-fi
Samsung 830 SSD, Crucial M4 250 SSD, WD 6400AAKS, Lite-On 12X BD-R iHBS212-08
Win7 64bit

I think I can handle DW, so why the blurry ships?

Thanks for the help!

I never see this for more than a fraction of a second before they become higher resolution. It's a performance optimization that causes them to look blurry at all for that brief moment. On some systems it does not even appear.

Are you seeing this for all ships in all games or just for some?

Regards,

- Erik

I think it's all ships every time I play, especially when I zoom in but I can tell they are never rendering correctly even zoomed out. For sure they are never clear like in the selection panel.

I added 2 screenshots. 1 is Home key zoomed in and the other is Pagedown full zoom in.

My experience is the same as Eric's -- happens for a very brief time and then resolves into a sharp image.

Any idea what could be causing this, and any way to fix it?

And is sharp when you zoom all the way in as well?

I don't know, I've tried the game on my laptop and I saw the same thing happening.

Hmmm, I didn't realise it was possible to zoom in that far. I use the mouse wheel to zoom in and out, and I've just realised that it stops zooming well before it gets to maximum zoom. So does "Backspace". In order to zoom further, I have to use "Page Down". Is this normal?

I'm also seeing the same blurriness at maximum zoom. This is on a 27" monitor with 2560x1440 resolution. However, they don't seem blurry at the level of zoom you get when pressing "Backspace", so perhaps they just can't be resolved any further at my resolution?

So I what I'm describing may be different from what you're seeing AstroCat.

The full zoom in is the same as what I'm seeing, but even at the normal "home" key zoom they still don't seem as clear as the selection screen image. This might just be the way it is, and I'm just getting used to it since I'm still pretty new to the game.
